Congrats to the Tomcats on a good road win in a tough place to play. I will say that both of these teams are in my middle school conference and play as 7th and 8th graders. So most of the Tomcat players including Porter has played there several times.

Mason won the rebounding battle 41-24.

They had a big kid around 6’5 named Shockey (I think) and he was a load for Ashland. Also a Jones kid played well for them.

Hudson led Ashland with 23.

Really happy for my Tomcats to get this win. They showed a lot of fight and never gave up in a game that on paper they should have lost.

Had you told me that Ashland would nearly be doubled up on rebounds, held well below their shooting average, missed key free throws etc. I would have told ya they lost, no matter who the opponent was. Getting a win out of that as well on the road at the Fieldhouse shows how this Ashland team simply finds ways to win games that they shouldn't.

Imo, this is as big of a win as any that Ashland has had this season. Overcoming adversity shows maturity, good coaching as well as basketball IQ and these kids are still really young.

Schalch. Very good player.

Nice win for the Tomcats.

Post game radio said Bradley played with a sore ankle he injured in practice this week. That kid is as gutsy as it gets. But it probably hampered his rebounding somewhat.

This team is fun to watch, especially when they’re clicking on all cylinders, which today they didn’t. But they still managed to find a way to win.

Frey, Jones and Schlach accounted for 45 of Mason County's 65 points. They scored 15 points each and shot a combined 20 for 35 for 57.1 percent. Those three also out rebounded Ashland picking up 26 of Mason County's 41 rebounds. But, Ashland found a way to win and that's what counts.

I don’t know much about Mason County but Ashland’s tallest player is 6’2. That’s no doubt a weak point for them but they still keep on winning. And not a cupcake schedule ether.

Congrats on the win. They are a fun team to watch. I am keeping up with them.

Yes.

Thanks I thought it was the same kid who played in our middle school conference. Also aw him play last month at Frederick Douglass in a freshman game. He’s going to be a good one for the Royals.

Fourth one point loss this year which is heart breaking. Another game Mason should have won. Just can't make enough plays to win. Twice Porter took the ball base line to base line for layups in the last minute. Just can not happen. Mason playing much better.
