UK Football > UK Basketball??

Featured Replies

Here's something to think about. When was the last time the UK football was ranked higher then the Wildcat basketball squad?

UK football is closing the gap, but still a ways off in terms of fan support.

Personally, I always enjoy attending UK football games much more than the basketball ones.

I bet more UK fans attend a football game at Commonwealth this year than a basketball game at Rupp. ;):p:cool:

The trick there is that Rupp Arena won't seat 65,000 people.

Thanks, I get that. Commonwealth doesn't host 18 games either.

We've been a dash under capacity this year. :bunny:

Support the bad teams, and bail on the good one. Gotcha... ;)

That is what I was just thinking. They'll come out in full force to watch a 2-9 team and then when we actually have a good offensive team that wins a few games, they stay at home. What gives?

On a serious note, Commonwealth Stadium didn't seem as full this season, especially in the upper level. That more than likely has to do with some of the home opponents (Texas State, Ole Miss, Central Michigan, UL-Monroe, etc.).

I think if UK basketball has another season like last and no changes are made, UK football is really going to take a big jump due to the bowl game and all of the solid recruiting Rich Brooks' staff has done. There seems to be hope (and a posative outlook) for the football program while that can't be said for the basketball.

Before you guys get to far off in assumptions and exaggerations, UK was at 82% of capacity for the season. Considering that's with a home schedule including Texas St., Central Michigan, and La-Monroe...I don't think that is the end of the world.

They averaged 57,330 this year...a total of 401,307 attended a game.

If, for example, Both the Football and Basketball had the same record of say, .75 then Id have to believe in this state anyway that the Football team would have the majority of the fan support. But thats just my opinion.

No place like Commonwealth,

Yoter

Tubby and the boys packed 11,600 in Freedom Hall last night. I will go with football.

I believe that is pretty good considering we were playing in Louisville against a team that not many people would care to see...
