Reds offer Mark Loretta 6 million for 2 years?

Featured Replies

So where do you think Loretta is going to play GT. Are you going to ship someone out to make a spot for him?? You have to know some inside info???

I've been working a bunch for my new job over the last few days, and have lost touch on the Reds a bit. I'll check around...

Ask hssb... ;):p

My opinion is that he'd be the right-handed 1B against lefties that Wayne has talked about since day 1, and then be the rotating back-up at 2B, SS, and 3B. Basically, he'll be Rich Aurilia from last year -- but presumably more of a positive leader in the clubby. I think it would also guarantee that they plan on (gulp) Freel playing nearly everyday in the outfield. Therefore, barring a trade, Opening Day would look like this:

Dunn..............................Griffey...............................Freel

E5.................Gonzalez...................BP......................Hatte / Loretta

.................................Harang......................................

................................Ross..................................................
