Can Anyone Stop LSU?

Featured Replies

If I remember correctly, in their 3 playoff games before last night, Clemson gave up only 7 second half points - the 7 OSU scored.

Only this year matters.

Clemson had a really good defense as does LSU, my point is that OSU wasn't going to do something to LSU that they couldn't do to Clemson. To think OSU would have given them a better game is nonsense. OSU had their chance and choked away a 16 to 0 lead that should have been 28 to 0. Nothing about OSU and their struggles against Clemson gives me confidence they could do better against LSU.

LSU's defense was better than Clemson's, no way Ohio State scores more against LSU. Remember, after a hot start Clemson nearly held OSU scoreless for three quarters. OSU struggled to score against the only athletic defense they faced after Clemson adjusted. After that hot start Clemson outscored them 29 to 7. Burrow would have buried them.

If you ignore the fact that OSU has better receivers and much better corners. Terrell #8 is still trying to find Chase or Jefferson, 24 hours later. We all know your motives here. We get an 8 month break from it at least lol. Let’s try to enjoy the off season before we resume clashing, what do you say?

No motive, as always giving an honest unbiased opinion. Ohio State was great all year (as I said repeatedly over and over), then met a better team which then met a better team. To think somehow Ohio State would have done better than Clemson against LSU only shows homerism and blind allegiance to Ohio State.

Ohio State probably should be the favorite going into next season. I can't see a realistic chance of them losing until possibly in the playoffs next year. So there are 11 months before Ohio State could even be tested, enjoy and revel in their greatness next season.

Again, you ignore the fact that our corners were simply MUCH better and our receivers were better. It would have been a closer game. Too think Fields wouldn’t have thrown for at least 1 TD, which Lawrence didn’t, is crazy to me.

We get our opinions as well. My scarlet glasses also said we lose the game to LSU. Heck for half of the season many of you all were saying OSU was the #1 team.

Let’s hibernate until August, then we can resume the feud lol. Cool?

I knew nobody could stop LSU.

Season ending was the only thing to stop them.

Only this year matters.

I was actually trying to point out how good LSU was. Clemson shut everyone else down in the second half but couldn't stop LSU.

My bad, I misread it.

LSU defense is much better than Clemson's, Fields only got OSU in the endzone what twice? Why does anyone think OSU would score more on LSU based on how they struggled scoring against Clemson?

I'll see you in the fall...maybe?

Looking forward too it. We can resume the debate after Top Gun 2!

You completely killed your whole unbiased opinion take, by saying that only homerism or blind allegiance to OSU could make someone think OSU may have done better. It seems it is more your bias here than the other way around, because guess what it is pretty well known that I hate OSU and get in arguments all the time with our two biggest OSU supporters. Yet I am sitting here saying OSU would have done better. Quite honestly after watching OSU against Clemson, I think OSU is the better team and would win more than they would lose if they played ten times against Clemson. Which is not uncommon to see in sports where the better team may simply lose. Just like in the NFL teams like the Vikings against the Saints and Titans against the Ravens. Probably don’t win the majority of the time against those teams they beat. However, the did get the win in the game that counted, that is sports.

OSU defensively wouldn’t have to blitz as much because of their front four and they also had better corners. OSU offense this year was also better imo, and them not putting away Clemson early was more an exception than the rule. I don’t see them stalling out in the red zone as much as they did that day. Don’t forget one call in that game also completely flipped the game. If that call doesn’t happen with the targeting. OSU probably wins comfortably because Clemson punts there instead of scoring a TD. So Clemson may have won that day, yet you are acting like Clemson won easily making it clear they were definitely better. It doesn’t mean they were the better team and would win the majority of the time. Just means they were better that day. Plus you completely are discounting how teams matchup up also matter. Which imo OSU would have matched up better against LSU.

So you’re saying that since OSU only scored 23 against Clemson, no way they score more than that against LSU? So does that also mean you feel like teams like Vandy, Texas, Florida, and Mississippi have better offenses than Clemson since they were able to score more against LSU than Clemson? Or Arkansas and Auburn who almost scored just as much against LSU.

I’m sorry but your rationale just doesn’t fit, unless you truly believe those teams I mentioned have better offenses than Clemson, since they did better against LSU defense than them lol.

Brought a tear to my eye, I look forward to constructive debates with you in the fall!

Being the astute college football fan that you are I know you understand how the season flows. Teams improve throughout the year and use games they know they are going to win to substitute heavily and to work on different things on both sides of the ball. In the playoffs, teams are locked and loaded and hold nothing back. You don't see vanilla defensive calls, you see the best from every team in the playoffs. Each playoff team had a full season of offense and defense installed, we got to see them at their potential best the last two games.

Watching the playoffs Clemson and LSU just looked better than everyone else, to me.

Ohio State very well could have beaten Clemson, but they didn't lose because of poor form tackling resulting in a penalty. They lost because of their inabilty to score touchdowns and settling for field goals. Clemson ended the game on a 29 to 7 run. There is no way an Ohio State defense that gave up 29 in three quarters to Clemson would have slowed down LSU. I'm talking about playoff games, where nothing is held back...not a random game in October when LSU was up 49 to 6 and gives up two late TDs to Arkansas.

LSU was going to score on Clemson no doubt. Doesn’t take away from the fact, that you have failed to acknowledge that matchups do matter. Some teams simply do match up better against other teams. I do think OSU would match up better. Plus from what I saw in that Clemson vs OSU game was OSU was the better team and beat themselves that day more than Clemson beat them. Meaning OSU probably wins more than losses if they play ten times. Then on offense too, as I keep saying I think OSU offense is simply better than Clemsons. Meaning yes, I do think they would have scored more than Clemsons 25 points.

At the end of the day it comes down to one thing and that is us disagreeing on who was better, which is fine. I hate OSU and usually love to put them down but only if i truly believe it. From what I saw OSU was the better team, and the better team simply lost that day. Much like the Ravens and Saints lost in the NFL playoffs to teams they probably are better than, but on that given day they were not.
