December 3, 200619 yr Can you think of any examples of that? USC drilled Auburn 2 or 3 straight seasons. Also Virginia Tech two straight years. And Michigan in the Rose Bowl. And Oklahoma in '05. I remember Oregon shutting down the run and beating Michigan in the regular season 2 or 3 years ago. I'll have to find the link, but I don't think you want to compare Big-10 and Pac-10 matchups the last 3 or 4 years. Outside of SC, who has had some terrific ballclubs the last few years, I'd be interested to see those numbers. I may have to do some research myself. But off the top of my head..... The "supposed" 2nd best team in that conference getting drilled @Tenn. this year, 35-14, in a game that was never even that close. Before today, the one team that had beaten USC, Oregon St., got waxed by Boise(spread running team) 42-14 And who could forget the Ducks now infamous win at the Autzen Zoo on the botched call at the end of the game. I think most would agree that OU is having a "down" year, considering all their problems, and if not for the blown call, they pretty much dominated that entire game. I'll give you that at the top the Pac 10 can hold its own with just about anyone, but I'll never by this mysterious depth that has been created by the West Coast.
December 3, 200619 yr College sports, is simply amazing and the best value around. Basketball and football....BCS shakeups, who will and who won't....you gotta love it. :thumb: Great post!! Without a doubt college athletics are tops!! I have watched games all day today and the excitement in each stadium is unbelievable. The players give everything they have because they enjoy the game. "College Fever...Catch It".

The bolded loss definitely was not good for the Pac-10, but I'm not sure TN qualifies as a "running team," and it was also the first game of the season. By that rationale, you would also agree that USC 35 points better than any team in the SEC, given that they beat Arkansas by that margin in Week 1, and it looks as if the Hogs may take the SEC title.

December 3, 200619 yr AWSOME defensive game again for the Bruins! That is a contract extension with a bump in pay game there!

Tenn. certainly isn't a running team in the sense that WV is a running team. But, they line up and knock it at you a little bit. Certainly not a "finesse" offense by any stretch. As I said earlier, I don't doubt that USC is a very good team, I call more into question the rest of the conference. I just have a hard time buying that the Pac 10 has 4 ranked teams, because I don't see them. As far as the Big 10, deeper.........no, the Pac 10 certainly has quite a few average football teams, whereas the Big 10 has(this year) 3 schools in the top 8(maybe top 5?) in the BCS, a couple of average schools, and some schools that are just flat awful.
December 3, 200619 yr Florida has to win big IMO to get in. And I don't think your going to find an argument outside of SEC country that the Gators deserve the shot more than UM. UM DOES NOT DESERVE A REDO. Their one loss is to a better team, but UF has played the tougher schedule and HASN'T ALREADY BEEN BEATEN BY OSU. That said, I'm all for Boise State getting a shot too. Really, they deserve it more than anyone.
December 3, 200619 yr On the flip side of this statement. As expressed on this board in a different thread, I hate Pete Carroll. Good game USC? What is UCLA ranked, like 80? Just more proof to me that the Pac 10 is overrated, and those teams still can't stop a good running football team. The UM faithful are renaming this season "Cheater's Never Prosper". 1 cheatin' school down, 1 to go. GO BLUE!!!! Uh yeah it will still a good game by USC but they never played like the #2 team in the country. Like I said in my post, UCLA was on and wasnt going to be beat. Personally I like Pete Carroll and I am not even that big of a USC fan.
December 3, 200619 yr Look for Florida to slide in at number 2 in the BCS. I still think Michigan holds on to the #2 spot in the BCS even with UF winning tonight. Personally, I dont think either team can beat OSU.
December 3, 200619 yr If Michigan gets in, and wins by a smalll margin...sports will be ruined forever.
December 3, 200619 yr If Michigan gets in, and wins by a smalll margin...sports will be ruined forever. Home field is good for 0 points? Put every game at a neutral site...

Not sure what "Cheaters Never Prosper" pertains to, but 55 wins in 59 games with the 4 losses being by a total of 12 points sounds pretty prosperous to me. No school can win the mythical national title every year, but the Trojans come as about as close as a school can.
