Who wins this BluegrassPreps 2A Top 10 showdown? This is district matchup as well. Mayfield sits at 7-1 on the season. Murray sits at 6-2 on the season.

This game lost a little of it's luster last week also with Murray losing a close one at home to a really good Caldwell County team 42-40. But seeing how Mayfield clocked Caldwell at Caldwell County, this may not be very close.

 

But I have a suspicion that Murray will play well in this game. Coach Hodge will challenge them and I look for them to respond. But still to win in War Memorial Stadium is a huge task.

 

I'll go Mayfield 42 Murray 21.

Murray has lost to the two best teams they have played so far (Graves and Caldwell) by a total of 5 points. Mayfield beat those same two teams by a total of 93-14. I don't think the game is already decided, but Murray will have to play their very best game to pull out a win. Murray seems to have a potent offense, and Mayfields weak link is their defense, so they have a punchers chance. I was told after Mayfield got beat by McCracken, the talk in Murrays camp was that Mayfield wasn't as good as advertised that this was Murrays year. Until Murray starts playing a semi-challenging schedule, I will have a hard time betting on them.

Murray will score some points because Mayfield's pass defense takes naps at times but the game will never be in doubt. Would love to see Mayfield make a statement with a game like 56-7 but I'll say...

I had 63-28 but deleted it and changed to 56. I always try to curb my expectations just a tad haha.

One advantage I think Murray does have is their D-Line over Mayfields O-Line. The only thing is Mayfield will dodge that matchup and throw at will against Murray's secondary. I feel like Mayfield wins by as much as they want, but after that playoff game last year, I feel like Murray could possibly keep it closer than we all think. I still say Mayfield by 3-4 touchdowns as they will throw to avoid that line matchup.

Rain is in the forecast which could shake it up for 2 teams that love to throw. Murray does have a nice offense that could potentially keep things close. I just dont think Murray will be able to stop the cards and Mayfield will get some stops. Turnovers will make this key.

Where was this d-line advantage at against Graves? Caldwell? Neither one of those teams throw much, and they both beat Murray. Not sure about Graves, but Caldwell running back had 150 yards rushing I think. Not picking at you, I just don't see an advantage there. McCracken is the only team that has made Mayfield look truly susceptible at d-line. Other than that, Mayfield has held their own.

Murray’s both losses were both on the goal line. They fumbled the ball at the 1 with under a min left against Graves and went for 2 against Caldwell and didn’t get it. My favorite player on Murray is #1. That kid is really good and aggressive. Should be a great game to watch. Going say Mayfield 42 Murray 21 pulling away late.

Hmmm, I completely remembered that game wrong. Why do I remember it being closer?

 

Graves had to throw on Murray and did it a lot. Like I said I think Mayfield walks away easily. But don’t underestimate that Murray defensive line, or do, I don’t care haha.
