Corbin 07

Featured Replies

Never said he was mad. Just thought it ironic that a Corbin person should mention another school getting players that did not grow up in their school district. Not limited to football either.

Maybe but i doubt Corbin got 239 students to help them out.

Kasey Clark didn't look like he had a torn meniscus in our game nor the state game. ( that was affecting him) 90% of football players have a torn meniscus (cartilage) if you have ever played a sport its torn a little or if it pops a little.. I had had the injury you are talking of. If it was bad enough to affect him in the game against Corbin it would have still been affecting him in the state game and i saw it in neither. I saw a very good back that got stopped and got frustrated and now i hear fans that are making excuses for why he got stopped. The fact of the matter is Corbin stepped up to the plate and STOPPED Kasey Clark on the ground but failed to do so in the air and over looked the QB.

I did not want to comment on any of this because it is off topic. But it was affecting him in the Corbin game and the Belfry game and the championship game. Some of the Corbin fans noted on here how he did not look like the same player as they had seen before. Some of the Belfry fans said the same thing. Thats because he was not. He was injured and you could tell by watching him.

Also Corbin and Russell both have great tradition. It does no good to disparage either one.

Corbin's tradition dates all the way back to the 70's, 80's and 90's, I guess your grandfather must be pretty young. I would have to say that Corbin's tradition is better known across the entire state than is Russells. The reason I say I hope we meet up again in a couple years is because Corbin should be moving up to 3A when the next alignment comes...I would love to see Corbin play Russell next year.

IMO, best teams that Corbin played this season were:

Rockcastle, Bell, Russell/Middlesboro. Rock and Bell had better defensive teams than Russell, Russell had a better offense. Middlesboro had the best offense of any team that I have seen in a few years.

I think based on past seasons, Rockcastle and Bell were not having the level of success they are used to.

right now we're dealing with comparing on paper. All I have to go on is Belfry ringing up Middlesboro and allowing the Jackets 3 scores. Then Russell completely suffocated the Pirates. Then where Corbin had a poor outing with Middlesboro point wise, the teams slot into place a little clearer. Middlesboro could not have slowed Russell. And we were thrilled when Belfry beat them, to save us a much longer drive.

I think Corbin did well for themselves in the playoffs, and I won't argue the future looks good for them. But they finished..without looking it up, 7-5 ? The Redhounds weren't one of the top 4 AA teams this year, or they would have made it further than they did.

Anyway, I would be interested in reading up on the program if you can hook me up with some articles.

Not trying too at all.

I was the one who said he wasn't the same player i had seen before at the pizza box. I was talking more i didn't notice him limping or favoring, i did notice that we shut his ground game down, then he suprised us with his hands, but the real suprise of that night to Corbin was probably the play of your QB, give the coribn D some credit, the stopped the ground game of 'one' of the better backs in EKY but he showed why he is one of the better ones and he adapted and used his hands.

The thing that was noticeable was the burst of speed was not there. There were a couple of times where if healthy he had the cornor and would have been off for big yardage.

I though Corbins defense was very good. They did a great jog of clogging up the running lanes. But if you put 9 in the box it leaves 1 on 1 coverage and Clark and Frazier are both very good recievers. That QB is also one heck of a running back. RB is probably his more natural position.

Cashen was very impressive. He reminds me of Haddix when he was at Breathitt. Very mobile with a very good arm.

I thought that game was played on week 2?

Week 11 is the last I heard, but Evarts was open Week 11 and Cawood had them Week 2, so it's certainly possible.

The A.D.(Foley) told me that Corbin has the 11th week open, but thought Jewell didn't want to play Bell. He did not say why. My opinion is that he is trying to water down the schedule. I lookerd back at the two past season and if you take the district games away from our record, we are 1-9. TIme for a change and I'am not saying Jewell, but maybe some staff.

I stand corrected on the schedule being full if week 11 is open. If both Corbin and Bell have open dates, there is no need in not playing. This game absolutely should be played every year without question. I don't care if one teams fields 11 midgets against 11 NFL players, Corbin and Bell is an Eastern Kentucky tradition. Hopefully they'll play.

If South Laurel beats us for many more years in a row, I suspect they will be next to get the ax from the schedule. Dropping Bell County is pitiful; it is a huge embarassment to the Redhound community.

Maybe a man with your experience should apply for a job. I think that Corbins record is something like 4-10 outside the district with wins over middlesboro, lca & Pulaski twice.

Sorry not a coach, but have followed the Redhounds since the 70's. I wish that I had went into coaching.

Can anyone help me find out North Laurel Jags Football Schedule for 2007?

Corbin is too good of a program and too rich in tradition to be playing a powder puff schedule. They program will suffer if they don't re-new and start some great local rivalries.

Bell and Corbin need to play.

Corbin and Whitley need to play.

Corbin and Knox Central need to play.

Bell and Whitley need to play.

Whitley and Knox Central need to play.

Williamsburg and Lynn Camp need to play (I know they do and its is great)

Corbin and Rockcastle need to play

Whitley and Rockcastle need to play.

Williamsburg and Corbin need to play.

Local rivalries are what make high school football great and we in the tri-county area are severely lacking in that. Come on coaches lets revive the great high school game.

I agree that a lot of these games need to be played but a team can only schedule so many games. Corbin will be playing the likes of Middlesboro, Leslie, Belfry, Dunbar, and Somerset this year. They also play North and South Laurel. If I am not mistaken, they play one of the Oldham County schools and that's alright but I'd rather see a Whitley County, Bell County, Rock, or Lynn Camp. However, I understand how hard it is to schedule games. I'm sure they will be easier to schedule once all of this realignment will be sorted out. With it being new and somewhat crazy, it made scheduling more difficult. Corbin definately doesn't play powder puff schedules though. Coach Jewell has played the likes of Bryan Station, Henry Clay, Lexington Catholic, a solid Lex Christian team, Southwestern, Rockcastle, Somerset, to go along with Bell, Middlesbor and South Laurel in the non district games in recent years.
