Enquirer-Ryle's 1st Title Within Reach

Me too.:lol:

:rolleyes:

"Everybody's got to realize that Trinity, at one point, had zero state championships, just like we do. Everybody's got to start building tradition sometime. This is our year. " to quote Gray from the paper

That's the exact confidence the boys NEED going into the Box. Give me a break.

What would you like them to say , it's over now and we have no chance to win ! I remember a year or two ago , another NKY 4A team had no chance and walked out with a WIN on the last game on the old grass field ! That little piece of grass is still growing in my yard ! It looks good next to the dirt turf from Dixies old field !:lol:

Normally players/coaches don't publicly say "This is our year" before the State Championship game. Once again, Camp A vs. Camp B.

Great article,Good luck to Ryle!

It's not a matter of disrespect, as much as Trinity fans may want to make it seem.

Ryle is excited, and rightfully so. They've never been there and it shows at times, particularly with some of their fans; however, I have not seen any comments from their coaches or players that should upset or bother any Trinity fans...

There are about 5 or 6 schools in the whole state who I could understand wouldn't need this mentality before a State Championship game. This is Ryle's first trip, and they have a chance to do something special, and it's perfectly normal for a team to believe in themselves before there first state championship game.... :rolleyes:

I thought it was a nice article. As someone who remembers that first Trinity title very well, as well as the emotion behind it, I'd say it would be foolish to overlook anyone at this point in the season. I look for Ryle to make a great effort. I have predicted a Trinity win, but in a one game season, anything can happen (see Holy Cross 1991). I don't imagine that Coach Beatty on the team is overlooking Ryle. They will come out ready to play and focussed.

Mr. Cooper sounds like he was a special person to the Ryle program. The article was well written. If it was another team Ryle was playing I'd toss in my support....

I agree, but I would hope every team believes in itself before a state championship game.

My only point is that somethings are better said behind close doors. Obviously, many disagree with me, and I can respect that.

A quote of "this could be our year" may have been better. But I see nothing wrong with showing confidence and thinking they can win.

Camp A - been there 16 times before, kind of expected to be there year in and year out and should show a confidence relative to that experience.

Camp B - 1st timers, statewide predicted that they're going to the slaughter house, should go in expecting to win and if they had any other attitude, they shouldn't even make the trip.

This aint the second round. Has anyone ever seen a team get so much mileage out of one upset win? BTW, how did Dixie's season turn ou that year?

I admire Ryle's bravado. The positive attitude is better than conveying a sense of inevitable dread. It's one game and they're looking at it the right way. I look forward to listening to this one.

You will like the way that both teams play this game. Two great teams.

I think Ryle should fill the gas tank up and make the trip. Sounds as if they are confident and prepared. I must say if (IF) Ryle is to hang with the mighty Rocks for a half, they must be CONFIDENT AND PREPARED.... That just gets them to half time..... MUST make excellent half time adjustments as well. MUST execute those adjustments very well all through 2nd half. Did I say NO TURNOVERS.... BASICALLY - Ryle needs to play a perfect game to be in the game. Trinity has way to many weapons to "have a bad game and not show up"..... IS IT POSSIBLE FOR RYLE TO PLAY AND WIN?....ABSOLUTLELY YES. No one should discredit their efforts thus far or their approach to the game. Remember, they have not been to the big dance before.... The ultimate questions for me are 1) Can the Ryle defense stop the Trinity offense? If the ultimate answer is NO, then no need for the second question..... 2) How will Ryle respond when they are down two scores early in the first half? Has the coaching staff of Ryle prepared the boys for this senerio? If not mentally prepared for such a situation and environment, things could get ugly....

My crystall ball says (I glued if back together)

a) Trinity 45 - Ryle 7

b) Trinity 35 - Ryle 20

c) Ryle 31 - Trinity 28

Probability of all liklyhood: a = 80%

b = 15%

c = 5%

Good luck to both teams, no injuries and good sportsmanship displayed by all players, coaches and FANS..... I think we have been missing that "good sportmanship" element on BGP lately....

Very well written article. Had the honor to meet Mr. Cooper on a couple occasions. Hope the Raiders can get one more W for him this year!
