Apollo 49 Meade County 28

Featured Replies

Wow!

This does surprise me. I thought Meade County was a sleeper to watch...maybe it's Apollo!

Congrats Coach Hawk!

Very good win here!

This is Meade Co. Play 2-3 good games then come unglued.

Franklin Simpson played a game type scrimmage against Apollo. Scored 48 points in two quarters. Bad loss for Meade.

Meade had to play the game with their 3rd and 4th string QB. Meade was also missing their 6-4 WR.

Apollo loaded the box and basically sent 10 every play. Meade couldn’t/wouldn’t throw the ball. Oppel still had 189 yards and 3 td’s running against 10 in the box. Meade also had 7 turnovers.

Meade has to find a way to get the ball to their talented receivers or it’s going to be a long season.

Congrats to Apollo. They have some talented skill players.

Meade will not be able to beat Central Hardin or North Hardin playing like this and the game with Barren Co might even be tight.

Meade may have been down, but make no mistake about it, this was a different Apollo team than we’ve seen thus far. Especially true on defense, where they weren’t just hitting guys they were going for the kill.

Apollo should smash Marshall, and has the ability to make the other three district games interesting if they keep the same level of intensity.

There is no hyping up Apollo.Prior to beating Meade County, their only win was against Warren Central who hasn't won a game since 2015 and that was only by 10 points. Versus Central Hardin, Apollo gave up 359 yards rushing in a blowout win for Central Hardin. Apollo was big up front but my word for them was soft as Central Hardin repeatedly gashed them for long runs. Meade county will face in the coming weeks a North Hardin, Elizabethtown, and Central Hardin teams who are far superior to Apollo. If Apollo is the class of their district, that district must be down this year!
