Wayne county (1-1) will travel up to Mt. Vernon to take on the Rockets of Rockcastle County (1-1). Historically these two teams have had some competitive games and the overall series is held by Rockcastle. Lately however Wayne County has seemed to have Rock’s number. Wayne is coming off a close loss to Pulaski County while Rock is coming in after a close win over Casey County. What’s everyone thoughts and predictions on this match up?

Wayne should win by 2 scores, but we will see if Rock can fuel their fire and get a mild upset.

Big game for both teams I.M.O. For the Rock, they want to keep it going after rebounding last week. For Wayne, noway do they want to taste the bitterness known as another loss. After seeing Wayne during week Zero all I can say is they might have to play their best game to date to post the win.

I don’t see Rock allowing him to rush for over 250 yards this Friday. He is a great speedy running back but one thing Rockcastle has always done well is stop the run. We may not stop him all together but we will not let one player beat us especially one who runs the ball. Rock will key in on him running the ball and force Wayne county to win the game another way. Why are you so confident he gets 250? He hasn’t even done that in either of his first two games. In the first game he came close at 228 but against Pulaski he has a modest 135. Wayne May win the game but it will be because of passing not running the ball. We have allowed a AVG of 83 rushing yards per game in the first two games while we have gave up 280 passing per game. We will just see how it goes come Friday if Rock can control clock management by running the ball well and keeping Wayne offense on the bench that will shorten the game and keep Rock within striking distance allowing for the chance to get the win. Good luck Friday should be a good game.

They do not play the same style. Rockcastle Co. supporters constantly make the statement they play the same style.

 

Wayne Co. has basically be a 50/50 run/pass team for the past ten years. They run multiple formations out of the pistol. They want to run. If you sell out to stop the run Coach Thompson has no problem throwing the ball.

 

Rockcastle Co. has played Wayne Co. recently where it did not attempt a pass. The game plan kept the score close but didn’t have a likelyhood of winning.
