UC'S New Head Coach????

Featured Replies

That was yesterday's news. The 7 are gone, and are not coming back. Narduzzi makes 8 if he's not the next head coach...

So only the running back coach remains to coach for the bowl game? That doesn't make sense.

That's what I'm told...

If interim head coach Pat Narduzzi is going to be named the new head football coach at the University of Cincinnati, it will have to happen by Wednesday, December 6.

That’s the deadline Narduzzi has given to UC athletic director Mike Thomas for deciding on whether he wants to keep him on as head coach. If not, Narduzzi is headed to Michigan State to work as the defensive coordinator under Mark Dantonio.

Meanwhile, all of the UC assistant coaches, with the exception of running backs coach Tim Hinton, have resigned to take jobs at Michigan State and are already on the road recruiting for Dantonio. They were picked up on a plane on Monday night and flown to East Lansing.

The coaches are expected to return to UC to prepare the Bearcats for their bowl game and to coach them in that game.

“They will all be back for the bowl game,” said associate athletic director Mike Waddell.

My mistake. They will return the week of the Bowl...

And IF it's true it's a HUGE hire for UC,...

It would make it a shorter recruiting trip to St X.

I haven't read the rest of the thread but are you implying O'Brien?

Yes...

Based on???

When he first arrived he flat out hid from the public. He didn't even introduce himself to staff members. He avoided functions, he stayed out of the public eye.

That showed me he possessed very little leadership. He obviously arrived during a storm brewing at the university with Dr. Z and so forth.

However, he knew what he was getting into and he took the job.

He should have stepped right up and expressed his vision right off the bat.

Yet he hid.

Then the childish behavior surrounding the departure of Andy Kennedy, like he ran up and pulled the chord before AK's final post game address. Poor.

He seems to have done better recently, but the fact that he hid from the public eye when he arrived showed a lack of leadership when it was needed most.

He could have been a salve to the sore that was festering but did nothing.

Now they claim to have matched the offer from MSU, which I think is pure bogus. Nothing more than a bluff move.

Hopefully, behind the scenes he is meeting with the football players and supporting them during this time.

Because, they ought to feel abandoned.

The way this Dantonio to MSU came down, seemed awful quick. Yet it had been burning for a while.

I don't think he was proactive enough. Much more reactive.

He possibly can seal the deal with a nice hire, but I don't see it. It will be more of a pedestrian type MAC hire.

We shall see.

Is that like Brian Kelly to Iowa State or Spurier to Bama???

Rumor has it that Jimbo Fisher from LSU was in town tonight...

Don't follow you....

Kelly worked his fling with ISU to a nice extension.

Never said Bama was going to get Spurrier, but they are looking to throw a lot of money his way.

My MAC reference was to Thomas and his MAC connections=Akron.

And my comment was to the fact it will not be a MAC coach if he's not the right choice. The search is starting out well, and it seems to have been in motion for longer than most think. I guess bashing UC football makes you feel better about the equally awful Wildcats. So be it...

Why you bring UK into it?

I expressed my opinion on Thomas.

I think it is fair to question his leadership and how UC treats their football coaches, compensation wise.

I thought Dantonio was a good coach...great defensive mind, but a tad conservative offensively.

Heck Thomas could hit it big with a good hire.
