Attendance of crowds should be the focus of the KHSAA.

 

Yes it should be a consideration. I imagine they will cancel school on Thursday at Ryle. The game being on Thursday also puts a burden on students and parents considering it is a school night and a work day. It also means travel to anyone outside of Louisville. Again, way to go KHSAA.

I think it will be around 8k...there just isn't the buzz that a Big III matchup would bring.

There was information posted several months back that indicated that the KHSAA makes a lot more money on the Sweet 16 than they do on the football playoffs. The Sweet 16 is the cash cow not the 4A state championship game.

 

Yes, it's the cash cow. But you need more than just one cash cow to operate a business like the KHSAA. So the point is, no matter if it's one or two money maker they need the cash. It's still not too long ago the KHSAA almost went belly-up financially. Football has helped rebuild the association.

Ryle doesn't have the Alumni base that other schools have, that, along with the Bengals game, the weather & 2 other NKY teams playing Friday I would bet under 8k for this game.

Without a doubt. And though boys' basketball is by far their leading money generator, football is a close second, followed by girls basketball. Those three, and the outstanding fan support in all three, keep them afloat.

I dont think the attendance will be over 10,000. The weather, time, day, and bengals playing will turn off alot of people.

The last few weeks the student section at Ryle has been horrible. For such a big school they should be ashamed of having 75-100 kids in the student section. It seems that maybe "Raidernation" is just for basketball games!

However, I beileve that the parents and the community of Union will make the trip down and Ryle should have a decent turnout!

Taking into account just the fans from Ryle and all the T fans and local football nuts the crowd would be small. I think that we must also take into account all the highlands fans that will be traveling to Louisville and cheering for Ryle to help keep Trinity from getting number 17. Could be a record crowd for bad wheather.:lol:

Well, I'm not sure it will be packed for a high school game, that's for sure. I'm thinking like 20, counting all of the Louisville fans. Ryle's crowd isn't going to be small either.
