St X travels to Trinity Thursday for the 1st of 2 regular season meetings. While this is the opener for X, Trinity opened their season last Saturday morning with a loss to Carmel (IN). However, Trinity’s starting QB left the game with what was believed to be a broken collar bone and didn’t return.

This group of St X freshmen is said to be very talented but you never know how they will respond in their first game. If Trinity’s QB is out, you would have to wonder how effective their backup QB will play. With St X dressing ~80 players, it may take them awhile to figure out getting the right combination of players on the field. Even though it’s only one game, the fact that Trinity has a game under their belt may help them get off to a good start. But you never know with these young guys.

 

I think the St X offense starts slow but their defense keeps Trinity from getting any early momentum. Once the X offense figures it out they should be able control the ball with a solid running attack and short passes.

 

Make it: St X - 28. Trinity - 7

Tough prediction because with freshmen especially early on you just never know what you have until a few weeks into the season. From what I’ve heard the St. X defense is very good, will carry the team early as most defenses tend to do. With the Trinity QB probably out I’ll go with St. X in the first meeting.

I’m not making a prediction with Frosh. Too many unknowns since haven’t played a game. I will be at game and will do updates.

I had heard that St X has a handful of really talented freshmen who won’t even dress on the freshmen level this year. If true, this could obviously play a factor.

There are some talented Freshman but none are playing up as of now.
