Is time ticking on Christian Academy-Louisville and the #1 ranking?

Featured Replies

Christian Academy-Louisville who is bluegrasspreps.com #1 team in 3A. With DeSales, Bell and Belfry all gaining ground on the Centurions, how long will it be before one of those 3 other teams leap frog them to the bluegrasspreps.com 3A #1 ranking?

Depends on how CAL responds. They are still a good team with a ton of talent.

With that said, I personally think Belfry is the #1 team in 3A. But it’s only been 1 week.

Personally I think this class is a bit up for grabs. Belfry could certainly win it though.

I'm not sold any of those teams "gained ground" on CAL. CAL won a close game against a very good 5A program. DeSales was routed by St. X, which isn't a bad loss but does it tell us anything about the Colts? Belfry won on the road at a Southwestern team that is good but rebuilding under a new coach, and Bell County topped a Collins team that won one game last season.

I think the gap in the rankings, whatever it might have been last week, is the exact same this week.

CAL should be #1 but I would not be surprised if DeSales beats them this year. I still like DeSales despite margin that St.X beat them.

Personally, I have not made up my mind at this point as to where CAL should rank in 3A as well as KY overall. South was and is a very strong opponent, but I want to see our squad ‘firing on all cylinders’ as they say. Need to get all OL starters and QB back on the field. Not to mention, calpreps probably didn’t consider the 3star/UL commit that transferred back to Ohio.

Agreed... that CAL win will probably be one of the better Non-District wins in 3A as the year progresses.

You can make an argument that DeSales might have lost some ground based off last year's result and the margin of victory, but truth be told I don't see a single 3A school who would have fared any better against X.

E-town should have "gained ground." CAL got a win with no offense. Desales got squashed. We haven't seen Belfry. Ditto what gchs said on Bell. I think Ashland is probably a good team but they play a whole bunch of out-of-state schools so very few of us can get a good read. PT let McCracken drop 43 on them. McCracken is admittedly pretty good, but 43? E-Town was the only team who did essentially what we expected when they blew out AC-S. They looked really good.

Desales has one of the better D Lines in Ky, regardless of class. I knew that before giving up 300 yds to X. They have REALLY struggled finding consistency in the secondary. Look for Butler to have similar success thru the air. I still like Desales in that one though. Its also Ex Colt Jordan Watkins homecoming as he played his 1st 2 years at Desales. I guarantee both sides will be chippy.

McCracken scored td's with 37 and 25 seconds left due to onside kicks and horendous penalties that gave them easy scores.

McCracken had around 330 yards for the game. Other than the 2nd qtr when they played really well, they struggled to move the ball. They scored on a 5 yard field on a bad snap and special teams were responsible for a huge majority of those points.

Sure, that's part of the game, but it's not like this was anywhere near the type of game a team scores that many. Very misleading.
