Christian Academy of Louisville 6 South Oldham 0

Wow, what a snoozer.

Understand where you're coming from, but this was a tremendous HS football game and atmosphere. South Oldham brought a ton of fans, complete with a whiteout student section that covered most of the visitor bleachers, banners, and flags. The entire visitors side was packed....as was the entire home side, where the CAL faithful resided.

And despite the low-scoring game, both sides' fans were into it from start to finish, feeding off the big defensive plays.

Every now and then, you simply have to sit up and salute great defense, and that's what we saw tonight, as the two offenses struggled to manage any sort of long sustained drive all night.

CAL - despite returning only 3 defensive starters - and South Oldham - who had to completely replace their entire linebacking corps - both got great, gutsy efforts from their defensive players. South managed to pick off three CAL passes....CAL throttled South star FB Keaton Martin, holding him to just 47 yards rushing on 12 carries. Both defenses came up with huge fourth down stops in the red zone...

Both teams showed some issues that'll need to be shored up tonight...but both teams also that their defense can keep them in ballgames against top 10 caliber opponents...

Congrats to Hunter Cantwell on his first career win at CAL....and better luck next week for South.
