What your Thoughts? Trinity just destroyed a very good Frederick Douglass team in a scrimmage this past Friday. Frederick Douglass also has several D-1 players committed to several big name colleges. Tell why or why not?

St.X and Male can challenge them. Trinity is most likely better, but when was the last time a team in 6A other than St.X or Male beat them, so they are the only two.

Male and St. X surely can. I don't have sufficient information about the teams out in the state to form an opinion about them. One scrimmage is a small sample size. Trinity is relying on a lot of juniors. Can they withstand the rigors of their schedule, both mentally and physically? How is T's depth? How effective will the new QB be? Many unanswered questions at this point.

St. X and Male will give them all they can handle. Trinity is good, but I don’t believe they’re the juggernaut we’re accustomed to seeing like in years past. Their junior class is really good so I think it will come down to the performance and development of those players as to how good this Trinity team really can be.

You might already know the answer to this, but it's worth posting anyway - Dixie Heights was the last in-state team other than Male or St. X to beat Trinity... all the way back in 2004. That's ridiculous.

Also, in regards to Trinity's scrimmage with Fredrick Douglass; does that scrimmage tell us more about Trinity or Fredrick Douglass?

FD isn't as good as the hype, JMO. They are "Lexington good." That's not taking anything away from Trinity, it is what it is.

 

Male and Saint X will be the only two that can really compete. I wouldn't be surprised if any of those three win 6A.

What about Scott County in 2013 winning a State Title over Meade County, beating Male in the semi-finals?

I think I posted this on another thread, but since Beatty's arrival to Trinity they have not gone 2 years in a row without a title.

01, 02, 03, 05, 06, 07, 08, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 17...

Can they be challenged? Of course.

Will that keep the title out of St. Matthew's for a second straight year? History says no. But like we say, that's why they play the game.

What about Scott County in 2013 winning a State Title over Meade County, beating Male in the semi-finals?

 

Male beat Trinity that year, but Scott County could have beaten them as well, but that would be a hypothetical victory.
