As reported by multiple media outlets, Coach Barnes passed away this morning. What a sudden and terrible loss for his family and the Princeton community.

 

This was posted by the KHSAA twitter account earlier this morning - "Our thoughts and prayers to the Caldwell County and Barnes family on the passing of coach David Barnes. Longtime coach and athletic director and advocate for kids and football. Good man and contributor to education based athletics. RIP"

Oh goodness. Terrible news. Was a terrific coach for many years and recently has churned out prolific passers. What a sad day.

Sad news for many of us in Western Ky that recognized David as a leader among coaches and players. He had great success on the field but his true impact is reflected by the quality of his family and the relationships he has fostered during his career. I know it is a tough time for Will and the rest of David's family. Our hearts are with you!

I'm shocked and saddened.

Coach Barnes coached the last couple years while battling Parkinson's to be there for his kids. He wasn't gonna give up on them no matter what.

 

What an ultimate sacrifice. He will me missed greatly and as good of a football coach as he was, everyone will tell you he was an even better person, and that's saying something.
