Official of the Year Candidates Announced

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 16, 2019

 

The KHSAA will honor the top officials for 2019 on April 28th at the Association’s 26th Annual Officials Recognition Banquet. The ceremony, conducted at the KHSAA Offices, honors the finalists for each sport in which the KHSAA licenses officials. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. with the program scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

 

Finalists in each sport were selected through a combination of service to their association and excellence in officiating. One official in each sport will be named “Outstanding Official of the Year” for his/her sport in appreciation of their dedication and service to schools and student-athletes across the state. The Association will also present the annual Larry G. Boucher Jr. Supervisor of the Year Award during the ceremony.

 

Outstanding Official Nominees

BASEBALL – Robert Bauer (Cave City), Terry Carter (Madisonville), Carl Johnson (Metropolis, Ill.)

BASKETBALL – Kristi Eller (Louisville), Jeremy Grantham (Boaz), Nathan Sutton (South Shore), Mike Webster (Lexington)

FIELD HOCKEY – Bob Boden (Louisville), Caitlin Maguire (Louisville)

FOOTBALL – Jeff Ely (Corbin), Ron Hill (Louisville), Corky Morse (Radcliff)

SOCCER – Jordan Barker (Morehead), Jarod Howard (Crestwood)

SOFTBALL – John Bloomer (Louisville), Kevin Rengering (Erlanger)

SWIMMING & DIVING – Paul Dole (Corbin), Joseph Phillips (Russell Springs)

TRACK & FIELD – Vicki Rowland (Murray), Bill Smith (Lawrenceburg)

Is this new? Regardless, I like it. I guarantee you there are officials listed here that people think are terrible. This recognition supports officials and perhaps those haters will rethink their opinion.

 

The release speaks for itself (released today, banquet in 12 days) and it was sent out by the KHSAA today.

Officiating is like waking up in the morning you’ve not had your morning cup of Joe if someone hasn’t told you you are terrible at the game.
