Flip 1-2 and the rest looks good, although I’m not sure I wouldn’t have Boyle 1 and Anderson 2.

I wanted of course to have Boyle 1st but a reigning champ deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Using that logic where should Johnson Central be ranked?

Well you have 4 teams that played for a state championship last year on this list. I have Boyle there because their core has more D1 athletes than any other team in 4A with almost all of them seniors. Same core that won a title the year before. Anderson is there because they are a 5A moving down, they have 4 of the top 10 to 15 players in 4A, and had an amazing year last year that ended with a fluke 7 turnovers game. It’s just a guess but I think 4A has the most competitive top 10 in the state. Even the 7th best team has the best QB in the state. Come on.

How many Boyle players outside Smith and Bartleson have D1 offers?

Wilson Kelly is a D1 player and will have a D1 offer eventually, Reed Lanter will have a FCS offer eventually, and Ezarious Roller will also have an FCS offer when it’s all said and done. That is 5 D1 players on the same HS team in KY 4A. Not to mention a couple of underclassman who will be D1 players.

Just because they’re are the reigning champs doesn’t mean they should be ranked #1 They lost way to much to graduation to say they are the best team in 4A going into the season, I base my rankings off of what a team is returning and how much potential they have going into the season not what they done last season.

All true. Franklin-Simpson did lose a ton. They have a good team coming back but maybe they lost 2 much. Corbin and Johnson Central lost a lot too. Central lost a ton. I am biased for Boyle but they do bring back their core guys. Anderson brings back all their major players and add maybe their best. Lex Cath didn’t lose much either. I may be way off on these rankings.

4A seems to be the most wide open of the six classes. I wouldn’t be extremely surprised to see a team outside of this top 10 win a regional championship. It seems like all of those teams outside of Boyle are losing a good chunk of their starters.

Corbin still has a lot of elite talent, Anderson will be better they didn’t lose much and gained big, Franklin didn’t lose much, Lex Cath didn’t lose much. Everyone else lost a ton. Johnson still has a lot of elite talent too. It will be a fun ride.

Without doing a ton of research, I'd have Boyle County and Johnson Central at 1 and 2 in either order. You almost can't go wrong with those two at the top. Franklin-Simpson loses so much that you could argue a few other teams ahead of them - Corbin, Anderson County, Central, MNH and maybe LexCath. Great coach and program, though. So you never know, they could bounce right back.

I love my Wildcats but I would have Franklin-Simpson around 4th or 5th probably. I’d have Boyle number one.

FS loses their top two running backs and three offensive linemen. Losing also maybe half of the defensive starters. I still think they should be the favorite in Region 1 but it will be hard to three-peat.
