November 19, 200619 yr If the UM player had not hit Smith with his Helmet; I don't think it would have been called . It wasnt that late of a hit Smith was still in bounds although it would of still been close. But that one play didnt lose it for Michigan. Imo Smith was o.o.b. and therefore it was a late hit and as you said helmet to helmet. I think that if you get a chance to see a replay of that play you will see that he was o.o.b.. JMO. I do agree with you on that play did not win or lose the game though.
November 19, 200619 yr If you are talking about the hit on Smith along the sidelines imo it definately should had been called. He was out of bounds and it was a helmet to helmet shot. Carr was tearing the official after that when imo he should have been ripping into his LB for the stupid play! He is really lucky that the kid didn't get ejected, they could have very easily booted him. JMO First things first, congrats to O$U. You turned over the ball 3 times to our none and still found a way to get it done. You deserve it. However, I cannot stand when officiating decides games. Let the player's decide it, this was too good of a game for this call to happen, keep the flag in the pocket. There is NO penalty for helmet to helmet contact in college football, unlike professional football. So that argument is invalid. I'm searching for a picture, but I did look at it again on DVR and Troy Smith is clearly in bounds. Late you say? I don't think so, and I especially don't think you make THAT call in THAT situation. It was borderline at best. However, that call alone didn't decide the game, and UM had plenty of shots to win it. I just didn't care for the timing of the call. Hats off to o$U. I continue to pray that the best 2 teams in the land will get to play for the national title, because I sure as heck don't want to watch Florida or USC get stroked by o$U.

The problem is that there is no penalty for helmet to helmet contact in college football. It doesn't exist. No sour grapes here. We got 3 turnovers, 2 inside the 20, and still didn't get it done. I just didn't agree with the assessment being given on that particular call. I'd love to play it again though.
November 20, 200619 yr I was shocked at how bad OSU made the Michigan defense look. Corso called Tressel the best big game coach of all-time...he may be right. He should certainly be in the discussion. This game didn't play out anything close to how I expected. Hats off to the Buckeyes...I thought Michigan was the better team going in, but not anymore.
November 20, 200619 yr Just looked like two teams that couldn't play defense to me. Michigan really didn't look like they had any idea how to slow the Buckeyes down to me...I thought they were better than that.
