Ok, now the receivers for Danville:

Macon-big and tall(6'5", around 220lbs); can go up and get the ball and has decent speed for a big guy. Has around 25 or so catches for around 700 yards I believe......if this kid will just get in the weightroom and really focus on being the man out there(have heard some scuttlebutt that he at times doesn't take the preparation part of the game very seriously) then he will dominate central ky the next few years. Can be a game breaker..

Henderson-great first couple of games, but this soph. has failed to show up since about week 2 or 3....pretty good size(around 6', maybe 160 or so)...I can remember seeing him drop the ball repeatedly, especially vs. Boyle Co. and Somerset.......quick but doesn't look very physical to me. Just a soph. and makes soph. mistakes-again, probably a lot like Macon in his preparation for games..could be a consistent weapon, but probably another year away at least.

Morris- gamebreaker!!!!!! Senior with unbelievable speed and moves; getting him the ball means a chance for a big play! Runs very well, doesn't drop the ball; at times runs timidly in my opinion but he is probably a receiver first, a wingback second. If he gets his hands on it, watch out! Also a great return specialist.

What about the Cardinal receivers????

The Cardinal receivers are not as fast as most teams, but they are a solid group. Chance Sherill #4 is the main deep threat and has great hands...if the ball is anywhere near him he will come down with it. The other receivers are Caleb Garascia #80 and Aaron Williams #15. Garacia is not big nor fast but somehow makes plays that keeps the drives alive and runs great routes and does not drop the ball. Williams is the big receiver at about 6'4 and great hands.

They do a great job of getting open and always looks back at Shelton and if he scrambles they adjust their routes and gives him a lane to throw too.

I belive Gracscia has like 31 catches for about 700 yds, Sherril has about 25 catches and has good speed. Mayfield will also line up RB Andy Trevarthen and RB Travis Brown up in the slot some. They both run good hard routes and have excellent hands.

The one area where this Mayfield team is alot better than last year in my opinion is the passing game and pass blocking. Shelton can throw it if needed!

WOW....looking at the comparisons of the 2 teams, they appear to be mirror images of one another....Then when you look at the non district schedules, both have quality wins......Danville has wins over Somerset, Boyle Co and Southwestern and Mayfield has wins over Caldwell Co, Hopkinsville and Paducah Tilghman....This really should be an outstanding game...

Danville 27-15.

IMO...The battle to me is which team can throw on the other team's defense as both defensive coordinators will try and take the run away forcing both QB's to go to the air. Of course taking away the run will be harder said than done for both teams seeing how well the offenses can diversify things with multiple looks. Should be a classic

Just got through taking a look at the size matchups and they look fairly even with maybe a slight edge going to Mayfield's right side of the line with 6'4" 285lb Landon Heath and 6'0" 295lb Scott Brimer giving the Cards a slight edge on the line. Other than that it is fairly even along the line play each way for the Cards and the ADS...

I feel like the Cards need to come out early and put some points on the board and show they can move the ball; and defensively shut down the ADS early on because I have noticed that if Mayfield starts fast then they are hard to handle, but sometimes they can get stuck in neutral coming out of the gate, and if that happens on Friday then it could be a long night for the Cards.

BTW...for those that have not heard game time is 7pm Eastern time this coming Friday night. So 7pm Danville time...6pm Mayfield time. Don't want anyone to show up late for this classic game to conlude this great postseason rivalry.

Danville is the same way as far as getting out to a fast start. If they start out sloppy then they have a hard time getting into a good flow!I can't wait until Friday night! This is my fantasy football game come true!

The Mayfield Messenger covers Mayfield football a whole lot but they don't have an online newspaper. The Paducah Sun also covers Mayfield and does a good job also. IMO they have one of the best sports writers in the state in Joey Fosko. They have an online newspaper but you have to have an online subscription to read it.

I get the Messenger sent to the house and read the Paducah Sun online.

The Mayfield Messenger is the only daily paper in the state that I am aware of that is not available on line. Hard to believe for a daily paper that is otherwise a preety good paper.
