Russell 31 Corbin 23

Featured Replies

I have to wonder why Corbin didn't keep running Number 34 until Russell could stop him. Every time he touched the ball he was a load. He alone could have put a hurt on Russell. There QB is exceptional. I would still have Jones who showed tonight he is the real deal just like he does every Friday night. Great job Jones. No touches for Frazure tonight. I'm not sure why but that's just the way it unfolded. He will be needed against Belfry. Once again congratulation Red Devils you make all of us in the community very proud. Thanks.

Michael Campbell is the player you are talking about for Corbin. He is a 235 lb sophomore who is there strongest player and may be their fastest back when 100% healthy. He has not run the ball since about the 3rd or 4th game of the season for from what I have been told. He is a load to bring down.

Jeepman is right about Campbell though. I think he got about 5 yards a carry. I'm not sure Russell ever stopped him for less than 4.

Ive gotta mention Josh Wills on here. He is all heart. His play at LB was phenomenal. He was all over the field and had some brutal hits. He really does play the game the way it should be played. He is a joy to watch.

Great job with the updates tonight Play 2 Win :thumb:

WOW!!!! Corbin IS FOR REAL!! They came to play. I don't think Russell played great but it was just good enough tonight. Tyler played a heck of a game, a heck of a game. They stacked the box the whole second half and keyed on Kasey the entire game. Russell pretty much stayed in the wing the entire game and Corbin defense came ready for it. I know Russell has a more broad playbook that could have been used but wasn't for whatever reason. Corbin is definately a great football team who was very worthy of making it this far and the players and fans were nothing but class the whole game as well as after the game.

Russell has a very tough task ahead at Belfry next week and will need to prepare for an entirely different type of team. I know Coach Haywood always has a great team this time of year, he may not have one at the start of the season but he's always got one by now and it will be even tougher to escape Belfry with a win. I have faith in this seasoned team and I know we'll come to play.

Tonight I want to Congrats the Devils on a hard faught win and wish everyone from Corbin a safe trip home. The Devils are one step closer to reaching their goal and Belfry is next. Look for a tough close game again next week.

AMEN!!!!!! :thumb: :thumb: Can't wait!!!!!!

Good night to all!! It's been a long night.

I want to say congrats to Corbin as well. They will be a force to reckon with next year.

A tip of the hat though has to go to our offensive line. From one end of the line to another they were super tonight. 1st 5 posessions 4 Td's and a FG.

Play calling got a little suspect at the end. 4th and literally inches and you run off tackle instead of Jones taking it right behind his center. And then after the interception we gift wrap a timeout by passing and not completing it.

The Russell crowd got a little raucous over a couple of calls in the game. Especially that punt return they took back from Corbin's 30 to our 30.

Also kudos to our special teams. Way to hang in there dwayne. We needed every point after and fg tonight.

The Corbin announcers said that the refs almost blew that call and got it right at the end. They said that 2 Corbin players clearly touched the ball dead on the punt but that when Clark picked it up and started running that the refs seemed confused.

orisonspi, I wish you knew the family. We say pass the potatoes and the formation the Pirates used in the Prestonsburg game. I'd like some mor gravy and do think they will stack up the box on Kasey, and I'd like some apple pie, and hopefully that will be intercepted at a critical time in the dinner so I don't get too stuffed.;):D

The ball touched a Cobin players foot. It was never downed by the coverage team and never blown dead. The Corbin announcers were almost right. The refs did blow that call when they second guessed themselves.

The one who stated that is not a homer type announcer and always calls the games 50/50, but I guess he could of missed it.

Touching it with your foot does not down it?
