Colerain (OH) Coach Tom Bolden moves to Lakota West (OH)

Featured Replies

I realize this is a little outside the usual topics here, but this is an interesting move. Cincinnati Colerain is similar to Louisville Male in its prowess as a public school football power. They have scheduled with Trinity in the past. They were state runner-up in Ohio's largest school division this year. Lakota West has not had a winning record in three years. It is a big school with potential. I am curious about this move by Coach Bolden away from a very successful program. I know we have some Colerain Cardinal fans on BGP. Anyone have thoughts or insight?

Sometimes, you just have to move on. His son is a senior, maybe he just wants the move.

Lakota West is a nice area they probably offered him more money. They have talent in the school.

I read about this online the other day and was surprised when I heard about it. Lakota West is a nice school, but it’s odd to say in the least that Bolden is leaving Colerain to go their from a football program perspective. Very interesting move to say in the least.

Not all that surprising really. As a Coach, you are always looking at new challenges, and this certainly qualifies as just that. Lakota West is a great School, with a substantial enrollment. Within a short period of time, Coach Bolden will have the Team near, or at the top of the division leaders. He is a great coach that understands kids, and loves the game. Nice job Lakota West Administration Officials.

Definitely a coup for Lakota West to get him. I wonder if he will use the same offensive schemes at Lakota West. You have to believe there is enough talent in the building to win consistently at Lakota West. Could he hurt some of the Catholic schools who pull from that area over time if he has success?

I would say yes.

West is producing P5 level talent with regularity, they just didn't have a coach that could get them over the hump. That changes instantly as Bolden takes over. From what I've heard Colerain is strapped for cash and West made him an offer that was near impossible to turn down...

I’ve heard that LW has had some talent capable of next level play from a guy that I work with from that area but didn’t know that the talent had been coming out from there that consistently. If that’s the case, Bolden shouldn’t have much, if any trouble transitioning.

My fiance lives in the Colerain area (not for much longer though). Her son would be starting the school year next year at Colerain if they stayed. Let's just say it's not a great area and is deteriating according to her, so there's that.

I am going to challenge that with I just spent some time in Colerain with some of my Cardinal buddies and seems normal to me.

As a matter of fact, if I can find someone to go with me I may end up in White Oak (Colerain) later tonight.

Knotty Pine? Some areas of Colerain are very bad.
