Limbaugh takes a shot ...

Featured Replies

I forgot to add that Limbaugh was very very critical of the Republican members of the "gang of 14".

Rush's ratings will almost certainly go up under a Democratic Congress. With the bankruptcy of Air America, it will be interesting to see how long it will be before Democrats try to revive the Fairness Doctrine to kill political talk radio.

Like him or not, Limbaugh states what is on the mind of many millions of conservatives in this country. His huge audience indicates that, unlike a pitiful want-to-be like Olbermann, he continues to influence millions of voters. He has criticized dissenting Republicans in Congress as well as Bush for not showing more leadership. The fact that many of you don't "appreciate" him is evidence that he is effective.

As am I, as should every true conservative. All of those guys should be ousted. I would rather have Bill Clinton in those offices than the spineless cockatrice's who formed that group.

Problem is, he is talking to the same 15 or 16 million people everyday.

Just refreshing the base.

That's probably about 15 million more people than listen to Al Franken & Co.
I wouldn't be surprised if Rush was secretly happy about the GOP losing both houses. If you recall, Rush was at the height of popularity starting in the early 90's, and lasting pretty much throughout Clinton's presidency. I'd say he's pulling for the Dems in 08 also. He has much more ammunition in his arsenal when he is perceived to be on the outside looking in.

You are absolutely correct.....Rush will now have a ball. It was a lot more fun for him to be on offense rather than on defense. Sit back and enjoy. Now Bill Mahre will be on the defensive....watch him crumble and just go away. :dancingpa

It would be hard to argue that people like Olbermann are not having some sort of influence when the show he anchors is up about 40% from a year ago.

I remember the "Fairness Doctrine" very well. Some coined it the "Hush Rush" bill. There is something deliciously ironic about a political party that is supposed to champion freedom of speech and simultaneously formulate a plan to suppress it.

Well, cshs81, I suppose it is kind of like the student who made 10% on his first algebra test and 14% on the second one. At least he could tell his parents that he raised his grade 40%.

Is there a chance that the Dems actually pay Rush a chunk of $$$$$$ to make sure he stays on the air?

I doubt Rush needs their $. Their $ would be better spent propping up the Air America failure.

They might pay him a chunk of money to teach aspiring liberal radio talk show hosts how to attract and maintain an audience. Hiring a comedian and a mediocre actress and sticking a microphone in front of them didn't seem to work out too well.

Man, I knew that argument was coming. Its not quite that simple to brush off. I think I heard today that KO's audience was over 1M last night. That's a significant increase regardless of what mathematical justification one uses.

Add in that Bill O. has been losing audience and it seems to go hand in hand with the voting results of this week.

I don't think anyone can brush off all non-Republicans as having no influence.
