The Red Devils (10-2) spoiled a potential BG/SW rematch by ridding themselves of the stranglehold that the Purples had on them. They now face the tall task of coming down from that emotional high and getting ready to do battle with the mighty Spartans of South Warren (12-0). South Warren continued to roll in the second round, posting their tenth running clock victory in twelve games. Owensboro appears to have the QB and skill people to cause the Spartans some trouble. But can the offensive line hold up against the relentless assault of Jacob Lacey and the rest of SW's outstanding front seven?

Just telling it like it is, South Warren should roll Owensboro.

You also predicted 28-21 Bowling Green didn't you? Let's hope you are 2 for 2!

What will South Warren's O line do with Owensboro's D-line? They are playing at a high level right now. If they overlook them, the defense may cause more trouble for South than they bargain for.

South is on a collision course with Cov Cath. I don’t think they will be denied their trip to Lexington.

This could be a good game.

BUT, I just think the amount of pressure Lacey will put on the Owensboro OLine and then by overcompensating to try and contain him allow others to get in the mix will make Will Warren's margin for error extremely thin.

I think Owensboro's Defense will play well also. In the end, coming off a HUGE emotional win and now driving to South are all hurdles for Owensboro that South doesn't have to deal with. I don't think Owensboro will be able to run the ball and that will ultimately be a problem.

Turnovers are always big, but if South makes Warren scramble significantly I think South wins the game.

I also picked BG 28-21; BG executed as poorly as I can remember and I was wrong. I could be wrong here too, but I don't think I am.

Will be interesting to see if they play at Warren Central again or back as South's field.

I have seen both of these teams being an Owensboro Catholic fan and obviously more familiar with Owensboro than South Warren. This game is interesting due to the fact that Owensboro is playing really well right now on the defensive side of the ball especially upfront and they also have enough playmakers to put some pressure on the South Warren defense to make tackles in space. I think South may still win this because they are more of a complete team but would not be surprised if Owensboro pulls this one out. My prediction is South Warren 28 Owensboro 24.

I think South Warren’s first string defense has only given up 2 or 3 touchdowns all year. One of those was after SW had a bad snap on a punt and gave Bowling Green the ball at the SW 9. Still took BG 4 plays to score. Hopkinsville hit a long TD pass against them in the opener before Hopkinsville QB Bland got injured. Don’t remember if there were anymore or not. I just don’t see anybody short of Covington Catholic who could score enough to beat them. Owensboro has a shot only if the passing game is 100% on and if South Warren makes a ton of mistakes, which they do at times with bad snaps and penalties.

SW will win by three TDs. The Spartan defense gives the Spartan offense great field position. Yes SW makes mistakes and yes they get some penalties but that defense covers for most of that.

Spurrier is not going to be a Power 5 QB but he can put the ball on the money and doesn't throw interceptions.

I really do not see this game ever being in doubt.

Owensboro's defense isn't half bad. How many of their games have you seen to say you don't see the game being in doubt? There were a few that said that about the game last week. SW may win but there's an opportunity for Owensboro. They are a lot better than you think. Warren has thrown picks but he can and does put the ball on the money too. I just hope SW goes into the game with the same attitude you have. If that is the case, they may be sitting at home next week. By the way, last year when Bowling Green played them in the regional finals, who did you have? Did you say there was no doubt that Bowling Green would win? Don't know if you did or not, but a large number of people did. How'd that turn out? If there's any question, i'm taking the Devils. Should be a very good game. I am sure you'll let me know if I was wrong.

O Catholic scored against the first team D. One thing I can say, if there is a team that can make a team pay for making mistakes, Owensboro has that ability. They can score quickly and in bunches. Not to say that they will against SW, but I don't see a shut out either. SW (from what I am being told) has a formidable defense but on the other side, Owensboro's defense has been pretty good also. Yes, they've given up a couple more TD's than SW but in the end it's about the W is it not? I believe Owensboro can score enough to beat them. Nobody's passing game is going to be 100% and Owensboro's hasn't come close to being that good, but I don't think they have to be that good. From the comments I've read, it will be a tall task but Owensboro just hast to be good enough, not perfect. We'll see Friday night who was good enough.

Spot on assessment as always. If Warren has to move around in the pocket or run, not good for Owensboro. When Warren does anything other than drop back and set up he is not as accurate. Rolling out or trying to scramble and throw on the run his accuracy drops off. I agree that if they have him running around all night that will NOT bode well for the Devils.

If the O line gives him time, it could make for a long night for SW. I agree that Owensboro has to figure out how to run the ball, if they find some success at that, the SW defense will definitely have to adjust. Owensboro cannot afford to have stupid penalties or turnovers.

I like 28-21. It was good for Owensboro last weekend, let's hope it repeats again this week. Question for you: Why would they play the game at Warren Central instead of playing on their field?

P88 it’s at South no matter what according to the Souths AD. It’s the last game on that field for the SR’s as the winner will play At Fern creek/ South Oldham winner.

Last year was a bit different. BG blasted SW during the regular season.

Owensboro will face a defensive front seven like none they have seen the last two years. The Spartan defense is the force of that team. If Owensboro comes to Richpond and knocks off the Spartans it will be a surprise but not an unwelcome surprise for a lot of folks around here. And there certainly will be no gloating on my part if SW wins.

This is my thinking as well. I don't see this game being close and I don't see Owensboro being in a position to win it. I have seen Owensboro play multiple times and South Warren play multiple times and the question shouldn't be what will South Warren's OL do with Owensboro DL, it's what will Owensboro DL do with South Warren's OL. And I am predicting not a whole heck of a lot.

It may not be a running clock, but I don't think the game will ever be in doubt. I may be in attendance for this game, at least the first half. No sure which side I will sit on though =)

South Warren 28

Owensboro 7
