Congrats Somerset!

Another great win for Somerset over the defending 2A champs. Not the season Danville was hoping for but Congrats to all their Seniors on a great HS career!

Sad to see my senior boy’s season end, but glad he had three really successful seasons before this one. I’ll have a year off and then my other one will be a freshman so I hope by then, it’s rebuilt and back to the top! I’m an admiral fan for life. Somerset is really good this year, congrats to them.

Bartleson for Danville changes this game from a 3-4 TD win for Somerset to the battle that it was. Hats off to that young man.

Turnovers killed the Admirals tonight. I really thought they would top Somerset tonight but it was not to be. Congrats to the Briar Jumpers and good luck the rest of the way.

I think Danville had 5 Turnovers in the game. They also had A lot of dropped passes. I know a lot of heat has been on Danville qb Zach Thornton, but he put the ball on the money all night and Danville players just couldn't catch the ball. They had numerous drops. Somerset has a great defense and did what it took to get the win.

I really thought Danville would get the win tonight. Of course, it's hard to anticipate 6 turnovers (4 in the first quarter and 2 in the first minute and a half of the game).

 

Even after all that, Somerset led 20-14 and Danville had THREE opportunities to take the lead late. Kudos to Somerset for playing incredible defense.

 

The Admirals just weren't able to get it together this season. Everyone knew it would be tough to replace as many skill players as they lost. Now the Ads must replace 19 more seniors.

Danville played a much better game this time minus the turnovers. They had a chance to win it in the 4th quarter. The punting game played a huge part late in the game. Stayton had a couple of clutch punts to back the Admirals up and Danville had 2 really short ones to keep the play on their side of the field.

 

On another note: that was some of the strangest officiating that I've seen in a playoff game. Twice they marked off more yards that what should have been marked off on a penalty. Just bad all the way around.

Shouldn't that have been either the catch or the hold, or have I just got that wrong?

No. You're correct. It should have been one or the other. You don't get to add 10 yards on after the play on a hold. Another time they had picked up their flag too early and started marking off the penalty a full 6 yards from where they should have. Not a good crew.
