Blackstone Griddle...anyone have one?

Featured Replies

My wife got me a 36" Blackstone Griddle for my Birthday and I finally got around to assembling it last week. Just wondering if anyone else has one or has any great tips or cooking tricks they have come across.

So far after a couple hours of seasoning the griddle surface last week, last night I made smash burgers for the first time. The burgers were incredible and remind me of burgers from my youth when restaurants used hand patted patties instead of prefab patties. Being able to toast the buns right next to the burgers and the buns absorbing a small amount of the burger drippings really set the buns off.

This is the model that I have...

I have the all stainless version and love it. We do a lot of outdoor cooking and tailgating.

I have the stainless too and love it. Do you have the metal dome cover? That is a great tool for squirting some water around your burgers when you 1 st put on the cheese, then covering it with the dome. The steam instantly melts the cheese. Good for steaming onions and mushrooms, etc. too.

There is a great youtube channel from a guy who travels around for Black stone and sets up the griddle at different stores and events and creates all kinds of great foods. He was at the field and stream in crescent springs last year and has a couple videos about that on there.

Yeah, I got a dome and you are right...it is the way to go with cheeseburgers.

I'm looking to try shrimp soon, mostly for my wife and son, I'm hoping I don't ruin and entire bag of shrimp. :lol2:

I want one of these so bad, but my apartment likely wouldn't allow it. I used the industrial version of these when I worked at Beef O'Brady's back in the day, and I absolutely loved cooking on it. It's so versatile, you can literally cook almost anything. I would probably use it daily if I had one.

I can see using it daily, a buddy said he uses his 4 or 5 times a week. I heard a guy say his kids had a sleepover with a bunch of friends and he made something like 60 pancakes in less than 10 minutes.

I just have to figure out the correct meat to buy...I have no idea, and I've not looked it up yet. :lol2:

I've found it in the freezer aisle before. It's made specifically for that.

Thinly sliced ribeye. Have a butcher hook you up.

I need to get the metal cover for mine. I have the black stone cover and it is not waterproof. Plus it says into the griddle and collects water. Water got through it and my griddle started to rust. I steelwooled it off and reseasoned it. Then I bought the waterproofing spray and went to town on the cover, plus I put a plastic tub upside down on the flat top before covering it like you put a beach ball under your pool cover to keep the water running off. It has helped, but the metal cover will solve the issue.

So I did some research on this and thought I'd like to have one. So I text the 4 kids and say that this would be great Christmas present for the lovely lady and me. I told them it was in the ballpark of their spending and they never know what to get us anyway.

But the lovely lady chimes in and says she woud rather have an electric wine opener ($30), griddle ($260). I told them they had a dilemma, they laughed and said they didn't think so. Two factors in play here, price and the fact they'd much rather please the lovely lady, than the old man. Guess I will purchase the griddle shortly after the holidays.

I use mine 3 or 4 times a week.
