September 24, 20187 yr I was leaning that way too until I realized they'd have two wins over West Virginia if they win out. That would be two good wins. Texas is currently ranked 18th and Texas Tech 25th as well.
September 25, 20187 yr BCS has been gone for a while. Do you not think the top 4 teams have made it the last few years? Regardless of in season rankings, the playoff committee seems to have gotten it right each year of the playoffs. No, I don't necessarily think they have. Seems every year they prop up certain teams to be within striking distance of the top 4 and I think its about money. This is why I want a 16 team playoff.

September 25, 20187 yr Who has made it that shouldn’t have and who hasn’t made it that should have? I certainly don't think OSU belonged in the 2017 playoff.
September 25, 20187 yr I certainly don't think OSU belonged in the 2017 playoff. And who would you have replaced them with?

This is why I want a 16 team playoff. About money how? Contracts and money to college football is guaranteed regardless who plays. I don't think playoff committee is worried about financial problems at Ohio St, Bama, Clemson or others that have them trying to get them an extra slice...so when you say it's all about money, I don't know who's getting this money or who's paying it.
September 26, 20187 yr And who would you have replaced them with? Pretty much anyone ranked behind them would have put up a better performance than they did, they were extremely overrated and it showed.

The committee knows what teams bring money. Come on, everything is about money. Lets have a real playoff, lets expand to 16 teams.
September 26, 20187 yr Pretty much anyone ranked behind them would have put up a better performance than they did, they were extremely overrated and it showed. You’re looking in hindsight. I’m asking when the committee released the rankings, who would you have put in front of them? Based on the knowledge the committee had to judge their decisions who would you have selected?
September 26, 20187 yr The committee knows what teams bring money. Come on, everything is about money. Lets have a real playoff, lets expand to 16 teams. 16 is just too many. I don’t need to see Alabama play Miami. That’s a waste of everyone’s time.
September 26, 20187 yr You’re looking in hindsight. I’m asking when the committee released the rankings, who would you have put in front of them? Based on the knowledge the committee had to judge their decisions who would you have selected? That's an easy answer...Whoever they ranked 5th in the final rankings. Anyone that gets boat-raced like that doesn't deserve to be there IMO.
September 26, 20187 yr That's an easy answer...Whoever they ranked 5th in the final rankings. Anyone that gets boat-raced like that doesn't deserve to be there IMO. Again you’re looking in hindsight. I’m talking strictly about what the committee knew when they selected the teams. Remember the committee told us Ohio State wasn’t much of a debate. They were ranked 3rd. Washington was actually 4th. Penn State was 5th. In hindsight, Penn State should have gotten the nod. But Ohio State also had a road beat down of an eventual conference champ on their resume. Nobody else in the country had an out of conference win that was as impressive as that one was for Ohio State. Yes in hindsight you won’t find anyone who after watching that game believes Ohio State was the 4th best team, but before that their wasn’t much debate in the committee eyes.

If the purpose of the committee is to get the 4 best teams in the country in the playoff, they got it wrong. Plain and simple. Also Michigan State the year prior got boat-raced too. So the committee has 100% gotten it wrong at least twice.

I’m saying with the information they had to make their decision they didn’t have much of a choice.
September 26, 20187 yr I’m not saying they got it right. I’m saying with the information they had to make their decision they didn’t have much of a choice. Which is essentially proving his point that the playoff needs to be expanded, right?
