September 17, 20188 yr One bad game can happen. I want a pattern of bad games to occur before I start making assertions that go against everything we've known about Wisconsin for a decade.Wisconsin wasn't exactly setting the world on fire before their "bad" game to BYU. They just hadn't lost.
September 17, 20188 yr On balance, not as if BYU is an FCS school. Wisconsin still should have easily won, given what they return on offense. I am sure Wisconsin will rebound to have a decent season.
September 17, 20188 yr One bad game can happen. I want a pattern of bad games to occur before I start making assertions that go against everything we've known about Wisconsin for a decade. Miami has more national championships than Wisconsin. Miami is therefore better than Wisconsin this year.
September 17, 20188 yr Actually in college football one game can and does in a lot of cases define a season. I just gave UKMF multiple examples where that did not occur and we chose not to let one game define a season. It's all about perception. We gave Alabama the benefit of the doubt when they lost to Auburn, We gave Clemson the benefit of the doubt when they lost to Pitt, We gave Oklahoma the benefit of the doubt when they lost to Iowa State. The reason we chose to do this is because these teams have proven to us they are more than one bad game. Wisconsin has proven for a decade that they are a consistently good team. They aren't an elite team like Bama, Clemson, Ohio State. But they have proven time and time again to be a perennial top 20 team year in and year out. That's who they are. So when tasked with comparing that to a team like Miami who lost their last 3 games of the season (including a loss to Wisconsin) last year and over a decade of ineptitude on the football field prior to that, I'm going to pick Wisconsin every single time.
September 17, 20188 yr Miami has more national championships than Wisconsin. Miami is therefore better than Wisconsin this year. Miami has been hot garbage for a decade and finished with 3 straight losses last year. Not sure why its a hot take to say Wisconsin is a better football program in 2018 than Miami..
September 17, 20188 yr That Wisconsin just lost to BYU this year... That's one game. When I've proven one game doesn't define a team...
September 17, 20188 yr Wisconsin isn't Alabama, Oklahoma, or Clemson. Maybe that's why they are not getting the benefit of the doubt. Those teams are just on a different level.
September 17, 20188 yr Wisconsin wasn't exactly setting the world on fire before their "bad" game to BYU. They just hadn't lost. That's what Wisconsin does. That's their brand of football.
September 17, 20188 yr Wisconsin isn't Alabama, Oklahoma, or Clemson. Maybe that's why they are not getting the benefit of the doubt. Those teams are just on a different level. But Miami has earned the benefit of the doubt? I'm confused?
September 17, 20188 yr Miami has been hot garbage for a decade and finished with 3 straight losses last year. Not sure why its a hot take to say Wisconsin is a better football program in 2018 than Miami.. Don’t try to spin it. :lol2: We’re not talking programs, we’re taking which team is better in 2018. If you are going to use irrelevant historical stats to try to say Wisconsin is better THIS year, I can use them in favor of Miami.
September 17, 20188 yr On balance, not as if BYU is an FCS school. Wisconsin still should have easily won, given what they return on offense. I am sure Wisconsin will rebound to have a decent season. Wisconsin will do what they always do. Go undefeated in the West, split with Michigan and Penn State, and lose to the East champion. That's who they are until proven otherwise.
September 17, 20188 yr Don’t try to spin it. :lol2: We’re not talking programs, we’re taking which team is better in 2018. If you are going to use irrelevant historical stats to try to say Wisconsin is better THIS year, I can use them in favor of Miami. We're 3 games into the season. Neither team has even entered conference play yet. I'm not ready to forget precedent with 3 data points.
September 17, 20188 yr That's one game. When I've proven one game doesn't define a team... So a game this year means less than previous seasons with players not even currently on the team??
September 17, 20188 yr We're 3 games into the season. Neither team has even entered conference play yet. I'm not ready to forget precedent with 3 data points. So you can’t say Miami is better after three games, but you can say that Wisconsin is in the same time frame?
