September 16, 20188 yr I don’t think it was a panic hire at all. There was a coach available who had already won some big games — including an Orange Bowl — and Jurich jumped on it. I agree, when the hire was made, Petrino was the best available.
September 16, 20188 yr That’s an understatement. I believe that it’s being shown that Petrino isn’t nearly as good of a coach as many wanted to believe before, including myself. Many of my friends whom aren’t Louisville fans would say that Lamar Jackson made him look way better than he is over the past couple seasons and I’d think that they were making jokes. I’m believing in it a lot now, it’s actually pretty clear. Recruiting has fallen off. Time to bring Brohm home, who’s already taking recruits from The Ville.

The other guys being thrown around at the time include one currently floundering at Vandy and another who currently has Pitt looking no better. It’s easy to try and hindsight this one, but Petrino was in Louisville once and at Arkansas and he was known as an offensive mastermind and the QB guru. I don’t think that analysis from five years ago is any different. The question is: why isn’t it happening now?

I believe that he definitely was before when he was here and at Arkansas. Something has definitely changed since then. I know that things become more competitive each year with recruiting, but the way that they look now with Petrino’s experience is the biggest question of all.
