Funny, I watch or listen to UK all the time.

 

 

And that is your choice. I personally don't like watching teams I dislike, but that doesn't have any impact on me being a true sports fan.

All I'm saying is this:

If I had the resources to do a statewide study before last college hoops season, I would ask a couple of key questions. First would be, "Are you a UK fan?" I would probably get an 80 percent confirmation rate on that one.

 

My follow-up question would be:

"How far will Maurice Ager and Paul Davis lead their team this year."

 

I would bet 70 percent of my respondents would say either "I don't follow the NBA," or "Who?"

 

The answer would be a lot farther than Johnelle Smith, but really why must a UK fan be required to know about MSU players. Like anything else people enjoy / take interest in sports on different levels.

 

I guess I really shouldn't be surprised, after all you are the same person who doesn't think that people should be allowed to like music if they only listen to what is popular on the radio.

And that doesn't mean anything. I know lots of people that love UK basketball, and watch every game on ESPN religiously. They couldn't name more than 25 players nationwide outside of UK though. Does that mean they aren't college basketball fans? No, it just means they watch the games for their enjoyment.

I don't know why so many Card fans are getting so upset by this thread. Who cares how many people in Kentucky watched UK's scrimmage. The bottom line is that 75% of the UofL football team is made up of players from outside the state. From a recuiting standpoint THOSE viewers are more important and I guarentee you, few knew or cared that the Cats were even playing.

They watch for the actual game, the team vs. team aspect. In comparison I watch all the little things, such as how the match-up between Sheldon Williams and David Padgett is a lobsided battle. I mean, these guys pay close attention to the game. They could tell you how many lead changes there are, how many timeouts each team has left, the score at halftime, etc. They just don't pay attention to the names on the back of the jerseys, only the front.

Incorrect. I just told people they should look for more than what is being offered on commercial radio.

Good try. I've repeated that same question for years and years, with whomever the preseason all-america team representatives are, and unless the players were on the UK schedule the previous season, most UK fans have no clue, because they generally aren't interested beyond their own team.

It's the blue blockers that can not see "Must See TV"

 

This is not a case of the famous "blue blockers" that you all claim people wear so often. It's a case of people being bigger UK basketball fans, than college football fans. Simple as that. Maybe the "red blockers" prevent you from seeing it that way.

Duke and UK aren't rivals IMO...they don't play enough.

Let's see … 36 years on God's good Earth … I've lived in Bowling Green, Somerset, London, Pikeville, Covington, Florence, Lexington, LaGrange, Warsaw … I'm a reasonably outgoing person, and one who frequents sports bars and travels a lot for work … plus I've spent a lot of time in Richmond, Berea, Franklin, Frankfort, Shelbyville, Carrollton, Owenton, Dry Ridge, Williamstown, Hopkinsville, Newport, Ft. Thomas, Highland Heights and the rest of NoKy, Louisville, E-Town, Whitesburg, Hazard … plus I have visited all of Ky's 120 counties … yeah, thousands would be appropriate. Maybe even hundreds of thousands.

 

Consider me well-versed in the UK arts.
