It’s not like those officials will ever see the people from Beechwood again and most officials live in or close to Corbin and know their coaches personally.

 

I don’t think the refs are going to go into the game to cheat, but the old saying goes you could call a hold everytime, well don’t be shocked to see a few.

 

I guess home teams should get benefit of doubt.

I thought I remember the penalties last year being very one sided in Beechwood's favor. Not saying they weren't justified or that the Tigers didn't play a more disciplined game but if we are asking questions about "fairness" is that appropriate one year and not the other? :idunno:

 

I wasn't at last years game, but the radio announcers said that Corbin had 19 penalties to Beechwood's 3. I'm not sure how accurate that is though. I asked one of the asst. coaches if they got homered and he said not really. Other than a really bad pass interference call, he said most of the other penalties were more the result of the Corbin players not adapting to the way the officials were calling and Corbin being a little unfocused.

If I remember correctly I remember quite a few unsportsman like penalties last year against Corbin. I was in the consession stand so I didn’t get to watch it all but usually unsportsmanlike penalties are very obvious for the most part. I am looking forward to my trip to Corbin any local interesting places to eat near the stadium?

Corbin had some problems with a player or two who were not dirty players, but were very aggressive and would tend to get some personal fouls called on them for not letting up quickly enough.

 

 

I would recommend a couple of different places on Main St., which is really close to the stadium, one is called Wrigley's Taproom and the other is Depot on Main. If you like buffets, a lot of people think that Bubby's BBQ is the place to go, although it's on the south end of Corbin off of exit 25.

You can also see the first KFC before you cross over the bridge into Corbin. But the KFC is in Laurel Co, and not Corbin.

King Buffet would be off of Exit 29 instead of Exit 25. Smokey Bears BBQ is also a good place to eat off of Exit 29.

Someone hit me up in email and told me the Officiating Crew for the Beechwood/Corbin game is the same Crew that did the Corbin/Alcoa (TN) game last year.

There was a questionable call from that crew that benefited Corbin on their game winning TD drive. Corbin ran an option play and the QB received a big hit a second or two after he pitched the ball and the White Hat called a personal foul, which gave Corbin a 1st down when they would have been facing 3rd and 10 around their own 45. I guess you could call a penalty on that, but it seemed kind of harsh to me. There was also a pass interference call on the same drive, although it seemed like an obvious call due to the defender making a hit on the WR before the ball arrived.

Has the Root Beer stand closed for the season yet? If not, that's the best place to eat in Corbin!!!
