That's easy... get out of Cincy and schedule a GCL school from Dayton.

There are teams in the GCL that we could have beaten this year. We just choose to play the toughest in the GCL. (Elder, Alter, St. X)

Yes it will happen. Many of the games have been very close, but again... others have been a whippin'.

Interestingly enough, it seems like football is one of the few sports that the GCL holds dominance over NKY.

I was basically only reffering to the GCL ( South ? ) not sure of the south. The one that is made up of Elder, St X, Moeller and Lasalle.

NKY had a couple cracks at Elder this year and fell short, and Elder isn't very good this year. Did Elder even make the playoffs? Wasn't Elder 5-5 this season? You would think if it was going to happen, this year the Panthers were primed for a defeat.

To quote LN from another thread regarding Elder:

I don't have a dog in this little debate, but wanted to point out that Elder lost much more than their starting quarterback for a large part of their season. They also lost their best receiver, their best defensive back, and one of their starting linemen. I don't remember the position, but they had a fifth starter out with an injury also. That's five starters out. Even a school with Elder's size has problems when you have five starters out. Their best runner (but not the starter admittedly, but to me still their best running back) number 38 (Battle) also missed a couple of games I believe, for reasons I'm not sure of. At one point in the season, 3 of their 4 captains, were out for several games. If captains are selected for leadership qualities, as they generally are, having 3 of the 4 of them on the sidelines and not on the field leading has an effect at any level of football. Just want to provide additional info if your premise was based on Elder only having their starting qb out.

Elder, who did not make the playoffs, was not the same team at the end of the season as they were at the beginning.

Yeah, I'd leave Elder out of the equation. They haven't been very good the last couple years.

See, the thing with Elder is the school is not the annual "power" most would think. 4-6 last year, 6-4 this year, no playoffs isn't anything really new in their history.

They play West Hi every year (automatic win), they've added Oak Hills lately calling it a rivalry game (another automatic win). They played Benedictine, who may have two wins on the year that's in the ballpark. They did beat LaSalle in OT, but everyone beat LaSalle. They weren't very good.

As long as everybody understands by not very good they would still beat 95% of the teams in Kentucky, I agree.

And it was just two years ago that they won their second Ohio Div I (that's the largest class) state title in a row.

You may even be low on that, if they lose to X and Trinity that's 99%

It will be extremely difficult for HHS or CCH(and there the only two that have a shot) when your talking about schools that have 1200 and 1600 boys versus 4 or 500. The numbers are too overwelming in their favor. I happend to catch Cincy St. X's coach on Tv one night and he mentioned they have over 300 boys in the football program and dress 120 on Varsity !!!!! The numbers are loaded against you, they will be huge, fast, well coached and they can just keep coming at you.

Beechwood did that.

Beechwood did that.

I think he is talking about Trinity's win over C-J, not Beechwood's game with Alter.
