I think he is talking about Trinity's win over C-J, not Beechwood's game with Alter.

I could be wrong, but I think Getslow is a University of Dayton guy. So I'm sure he would welcome any Kentucky/Dayton game action.

Will a Nky team ever beat a GCL school again? They have been getting plenty of chances here latley.

 

Probably be a lot more chances in the future because CovCath, Highlands, the 6A schools next year won't have very many district games.

 

Be natural for the GCL South schools to schedule more NKY schools.

Well first off they are all private schools ( St.X, Elder, Moeller and Lasalle ) so they can bring kids in from all over. I know a guy who lives in Price Hill and is a die hard Elder fan. The last year they won the state championship he told me that there was maybe 10 or so kids that got playing time for that team that actually lived near Elder. They do alot more with their feeder schools over there. They basically get there Varsity teams lined up 5 or 6 years in advance when these kids are in the 7th and 8th grades. And lets face it Cincinnati is a big city and there is alot more talent over there than there is in Louisville and Lexingon combined.

They are a huge public school with a disciplined coach. I hate people saying that the reason that Elder or St. X are so good is due to getting kids out of district. You still have to make them play your system. The difference is coaching and discipline. Oak Hills has over 2,500 students. Are you telling me that you can't find 44 good football players out of that amount of students??? The difference between them and Colerain is that Coombs will put you in your place. He has a very simple game plan that allows his athletes to make plays, and he beats home execution. If you look at all successful programs in Cincy or KY, you'll see a common theme. Coaches have their players respect, and in return give their all for the program. It's not about where you get your kids from, it's about the type of kids you allow to control the leadership on your team. That goes for public and private.

Numbers help the cause. In addition, IMO they have great feeder program on the West side of town. Unlike NKY, every Catholic grade school on that side of town has its own football team and they get a lot of players in the funnel. Add in the tradition and you get a lot more talented kids rolling into Elder, LaSalle, etc PLUS kids from outside of the area that want to play for the traditional powers.

 

As a CCH fan and parent, I love the fact that CCH ventures across the river to play the GCL schools. Unfortunately, we came out on the short end but most of the games (lets forget the 03 Elder game, shall we) have been very competitive and great to watch. It certainly cannot hurt CCH's cause in NKY for kids that are contemplating CCH AND want to play big-time football.

As you or someone implied earlier, "struggled" is relative. You're talking about one of the top conferences in the state and the midwest. There are no easy nights. Add in X being top 10 in the country and you're stepping in high cotton. From all indications, Elder should be very strong the next 2 years. The league is too good to be dominated by one team over a long period of time unlike NKY .

Its the largest township in the state of Ohio, and they have open enrollment.
