Just thinking out loud but if two win less teams are still top five, just how weak is the state this season?

 

Don't get too caught up in records but I do believe that 6A isn't nearly as strong as it's been in the past (even when Trinity has dominated). There just isn't a ton of meat on the bone in 6A this season.

I think there is plenty of meat with Male, Scott County, Frederick Douglass, and Trinity. Very few teams in the state going to beat those 4. Maybe not a lot of depth in 6A, but top 4 very good.

Please list five teams better than Trinity and Saint X, and your reasoning behind each. Thanks in advance.

 

I said last week we would have an 0-3 team ranked #1 in the state. There are several things with that.

 

1. Because Trinity has played out of state teams, we have no direct comparison of KY teams to use, so its a big guess at this point.

 

2. Male, Scott Co, and Douglas, have all done what they should, but against average opponents, so are they better than Trinity? Maybe, maybe not, again, a big guess.

 

3. St. X just lost to a team that South Warren is going to win by 2-3 or more scores against. St. X is the normal comparison if Trinity is really good or not, but this year you cant do that.

 

4. Lets look at Trinity's losses. Two Indiana teams that are potentially deep playoff teams in close games. However Trinity loss to Moeller, a team that may not make the Ohio playoffs this year (granted a weather shortened game).

 

So is Trinity the best team in KY, who knows. Should an 0-3 team be #1?

 

IMO, you have 4 #1 teams right now, and we have to wait a week for this to be settled some.

I am curious. Do you look at strength of schedule at all? Or is it all about wins and losses regardless of who the opponents are?

They have taken three regional powers to the wire that be would be able to name the score on all but a very select few of 6A and in four days I have little doubt they will beat who many say is #1 in the state. If I am wrong I will be on here when the clock hits 00:00 to eat crow but I am not worried at all. If gambling were allowed, I would take any bet I have the cash to cover. I still say in December, Balfour will be in St. Matthews sizing rings and taking orders.

 

So back to Duece's question. Who are the 5 teams (or ten if you are really hitting the bottle) who are better than Trinity? Male is one who many will throw out but I still believe on Friday night that choice will be eliminated. Who else?

Trinity and St.X have played the two toughest schedules in the state as rated by Cal Preps, while some teams are fools gold, these two may be fools coal. Time will tell.
