An improved Manual team that has exceeded all expectations and moved up in the Lit and Cantrell ratings comes into the game against an inconsistant Tiger squad. Will the X men who played the first half against Male or the ten minutes against Trinity show up, or will it be the second half vs. Male and the Lex Cath St. X team? Also, the kicking game may yet bite St. X this year.

St. X 20

Manual 14

Good luck to both teams.

I understand history plays a big part in your statement here Ram2003. I for one very much respect your position.

But after seeing that field Friday night against Butler; which during warm ups looked more like Taylorsville Lake than a Football Field, watching at least 500 to 600lbs of the field walk out of the stadium on the players helmets, pants, jerseys, socks and in their cleats, not being able to see the yard lines on the field, having to squint real hard to even make out the gianormous "M" that is normally unmistakable at mid-field, hearing the PA announcer say, "Tackle made by Corey O'Daniel.......but I've been wrong before", because he couldn't read the number on the players jersey.

IT'S A NO-BRAINER!

You go to the PIZZA BOX!.

I know. I would've LOVED the opportunity to play at the Oven... I'm glad these guys get the chance. It may give them a taste of something bigger...

I wasn't being sarcastic regarding my prediction. It is playoff time and St. X is a great playoff team with probably the best running back in Kentucky. They will be playing on a fast track at PJCS against a team and coaching staff that does not perform well in the playoffs or under any kind of pressure. I beleive St. X will blow out Manual, beat Male by 14 and get its full game rematch with Trinity. St. X is a much better team than Manual and its coaching staff is second to none.

The kicking game has already bit us in the rear once this year: Male 28 - X 27! :irked:

I don't think the kicking game will enter the equation this Friday, however. I firmly believe that having a good field surface will benefit the Tigers much more than the Rams. Look for St. X. to put it all together this week, as Vic and Deuce run wild on the Turf.

If that's not bulletin board material, I don't know what is.

I disagree that they don't perform well in playoffs or under pressure. They typically lose to St. X and Male in the playoffs, and those two teams either lose to each other, or Trinity, or nobody. Manual plays the Big 3 closer than anyone.

Ox, I bet you're not very popular at the family get togethers this time of year!

You're absolutely right about that H...but I have been sitting at the head table for almost all of them. To the victor belongs the spoils.

Except for Trinity a few years ago, Manual hasn't beaten any teams they were not supposed to beat, mainly Male, Trinity, and X. This season has been a bit of a carbon copy of last years, but the team wasn't supposed to be as good. Manual lost all those fast backs, big linemen and strong linebackers---33 seniors in all---and they haven't really missed a beat. This years team has a spirit, that showed after the Eastern victory, and has carried them to a good season. Manual has been on the cusp of climbing up the big three's level and the team knows that this is the last chance for this season. Manual can and will put it together this week. It's been a long time comming and I for one can't wait.

X by three touchdowns. Manual on paper should be able to compete better, but they somehow just don't.
I disagree with this completely. Manual does not have the horses.

"on paper" I think X is a four touchdown favorite, but!!!, This young overachieving Manual team and an excellent job of coaching By Coach Nichols and his staff, has put The Crimsons in the playoffs again. There is always hope, and a few lucky plays and a couple of lucky bounces and??????Ya gotta believe!

On good turf, the Tigers by 4 TDs. Simply, it's playoff time.

warhawk68 ans mellowe4, good to see you posting about this. I think that one thing people are overlooking is the fact that this team is even here in this position. This team has improved every week and with the exception of a setback against St. X and Male (top 2 teams in the state), they have played well. Coach Nichols is constantly blasted for "big game meltdowns", blah, blah, blah, but not many are giving him and the staff any credit for rebounding this season with a feisty young team. Will there be mistakes made on the field and on the sideline? Probably so, with a young team sometimes they do not do the things you ask them to do or you KNOW they can do. This will be an interesting game and a few may even be surprised by the outcome.

.

Manual exceed my preseason predictions this year. I thought with the young new talent and loss of so many key players and number of seniors I expected them to finish .500 or less. They have done well.

I did not see however that the first game with St. X was all that close. I predict St. X will win this one by a greater margin. The last game was 20 - 6 St. X. I predict this game will be 35 - 7 in favor of St. X.

I still believe Manual's teams the prior two years were better than this years team. However, after seeing them this year and the way the young players have stepped in they will be tougher to beat next year.
