BCS Poll - 10/29/2006

Featured Replies

By the current standings:

Florida is ahead of Louisville

And

Florida, Auburn, Texas, USC, Cal, and Tennessee are ahead of Rutgers.

And

Florida, Auburn, Texas, USC, Cal, Tennessee, and Arkansas are ahead of Boise State.

Lets also not forget the Cal is ranked ahead of the Tennessee team that beat them 35-18.

You really never know what the BCS will do.

The big thing to think about is how all the big wins that those teams you've shown will look weaker as the conference play continues. The strength of schedule benifit will lessen while Rutgers will become substancially better.

Given the styles I just think the Gators offense would give the Cards D much more problems than the other way around.
We'll know that better this Friday morning.
I guess my question is really this: Who would be considered the better team?

Granted the winner of the NC game will be declared the NC, but would they really be the better team?

:thumb: Those kind of debates have went on in all sports forever and they always will. I guess it would just be an individual's opinion. Personally I would NEVER consider that school up north better.

Looks like this arguement is getting political. The SEC is in full attack mode.

And the Big East is forced to respond.

If UofL runs through the rest of the schedule, which BTW is VERY formidable, they will have proven to be the one of the top two teams.

You'll pardon me and others who think that "formidable" may be self-serving.

Recently, with UL's turnovers I would almost tend to agree, except that UL ALWAYS seems to play to it's competition, which would be great with Florida, which also rises their intensity...I feel very strongly that if UL did not turn the ball over against FLA, they would win handily.

And if Ohio State hadn't had an amazing defense and they hadn't been the better team, then my Irish would have killed them in Arizona last winter.

And I do not think UL would beat Florida, and certainly not handily, that is just a looney statement.

You see, I don't....it seems that Florida likes to run between the tackles, or right off tackle...and throws to the deep 3rd's and outside....that's U of L's strengths.

By the current standings:

Florida is ahead of Louisville.

If Louisville beats WVU on Thursday this will be different.

Imo no way UL would come close to Fla., as a matter of fact they probably would finish around 4th or 5th in the SEC.:D

They would be much higher, don't let that hatred get in the way of common sense.

We'll know that better this Friday morning.

Great post and dead-on, IMO...if U of L does indeed win this Thursday we'll have seen how well they stack up against a legit spread option.

You'll pardon me and others who think that "formidable" may be self-serving.

Sounds amazingly like the self serving SEC....whose king last season was beaten by the Big East's.

And if Ohio State hadn't had an amazing defense and they hadn't been the better team, then my Irish would have killed them in Arizona last winter.

On part I....that's apples and oranges...that OSU team was disgustingly better than this year's, IMO....

....I think that U of L would win at home against Florida, probably lose at the Swamp, and whoever wins the TO battle at a neutral, would win.

I couldn't disagree more. I've seen ALL of Florida's games and all but Syracuse and Temple of the UL games. I think the Cards can beat the Gators. With or without Brohm. No doubt in my mind.

Papa Johns Stadium should be renamed The Looney Bin.

And as for another post, it was said that Florida is overrated and that they have beaten overrated competition. I honestly could not believe that there was not a response to that.

I could not find a week by week Sportsline 119, but these are the current standings for UL's oponents right now of 119 teams.

Here you go RedRowdyRam:

UK - 70

Temple - 113

Miami (FL) - 41

Kansas St. - 52

MTSU - 80

Cincinnati - 71

Syracuse - 81

Average - 72.5

Florida's:

So. Miss - 58

Central Florida - 100

Tennessee - 8

UK - 70

Alabama - 38

LSU - 16

Auburn - 6

Georgia - 31

Average: 40.8

UL's best opponent to this date is ranked 41, while Florida's is 6. And not to mention they also have 2 other top 20 teams. Florida has 5 opponents ranked higher than UL's highest.

Florida has more than proven themselves while UL is sitting in the shadows of a laughable schedule and taking the credit for being undefeated.

Now I will finish off with this. UL will be playing the #2 and #12 team according to the SL 119, but to this point UL has done little more than what any team ranked from 30-50 could do with the same schedule.

And for the record, I am not a hater of UL. I go to college in Louisville and I enjoy the games, I am simply a hater of hype.
