October 29, 200619 yr Because of the fan following and the number of bowls I think there is no question that they do. Me personally, I'm rooting for the Music City Bowl because of its' location.
October 29, 200619 yr If they both get eligible, Kentucky vs. NC State or Virginia seems likely. However, if Vandy also gets bowl eligible, they may get the Music City nod over Kentucky with the home town crowd. After all, it's all about putting fannies in the seats and Kentucky's fans travel better than Vanderbilt's.

October 29, 200619 yr If they get their 6 wins, there is no doubt in my mind that they will get a bowl bid. Who knows which one, but the Music City Bowl would make sense.
October 29, 200619 yr After further review... I forgot about the conference tie-ins the bowl games have. There are six bowl games (Non BCS) with automatic SEC tie-ins. The SEC bowl games that will be over UK's heads are the Cotton, Capital One (Citrus), Outback, and possibly the Chick-Fil-A (Peach). That leaves the Music City and Independence Bowls for the SEC schools that squeak in. SEC teams that are going bowling for sure are Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, and Alabama (7). South Carolina has five wins and is likely in. Kentucky and Vandy will battle for the ninth bowl bid. If some conferences don't qualify enough teams to qualify for bowls, then the non-SEC bowls will look to the SEC to fill the slate, like the Music City did last year when there wasn't enough SEC schools. I'd say Music City and Independence are the UK/Vandy winner's two bowl choices this year.
October 29, 200619 yr If they get 6 wins without a win against GA or UT, I would see the season as ho hum at best. Brooks would likely keep his job, but the schedule is apparently more difficult next season, and 6-6 would be much harder.
October 29, 200619 yr I was thinking about this yesterday. What is the possibility of a UK/IU matchup. Does the bowl committee have any problem with these teams being relatively close to each other or is this a legit possibility? I would have to think that this game would fill up a stadium.
October 29, 200619 yr For sure and maybe Liberty Bowl I don't think it is an absolute. The 6 wins with one against a IAA (Yes I know it counts) and the fact that Eight other teams from the SEC could be ahead of them, might mean the Cats get shut out of a bowl. It will also have a lot to do with how many other conferences full fill all of their bowl tie ins. A couple of years ago the MAC had 4 or 5 teams in because there were plenty of open spots. Normally 2 bowl games for the MAC is it. With that said, so much weight is placed on how different teams travel and what kind of ticket sales would be expected by different teams and there is no denying that UK would put a lot of people in the stands.
October 30, 200619 yr Read something interesting a few days ago, I think in the H-L that there is a chance that UK and Baylor could meet up in a certain bowl, maybe the Emerald or something like that, if they both got eligible. Bet that would turn out the UK fans.
