It sounds like the same point could be made for CCH. If they're running the ball a lot more that will help offset the loss of Mayer. Plus, BG and SW seem to have a 5 TD gap they need to make up to get to CCH. Given that I think CCH deserves to go in as the number one.

 

That’s fair. I’ll always take the team that made the state semis and returns its QB over the team that has to replace its QB who also happened to be a top 3 Mr. Football candidate/D1 signee. We watched Boyle County embarrass Highlands in the state finals one year only to see Highlands turn around and embarrass Boyle County in the state finals the next season so I don’t worry much about what happened in the previous season to determine future results.

Honestly can't speak to the other teams, but I think Highlands team has a great group of talented players and leaders. They are determined to get it right this year and if things come together, watch out! Talented QB, experienced and dangerous backfield, strong and big sure-handed receivers, and hard-hitting defense could make for a really good season.

I would say Scott Co and Cov Cath are the two games that will need miracle stuff to happen to win. I believe Ryle SK and Lex Cath are kind of toss-ups. The rest they should win for sure. 'Birds will be better.

Put me in the camp that Highlands will be much better. The talent is there to compete...lets see what is done with it.

No, the cross bracketing this year puts CovCath back on the other side from Bowling Green and South Warren. If they meet, it'll be in the finals.

Injuries can always derail a team, but there will be more depth on this year's squad than in previous 2 seasons for sure.

I use to know where to find the bracketing on KHSAA but I have failed at finding it. Do you know how the districts and regions align for playoffs this year ?

It is crime to have the BG / SW / Owensboro group on the same side as Cov Cath / Highlands group. Unless you're into afterthought state championships.
