How Do You Feel About People Who Are Agnostic?

Featured Replies

I'm curious to see how people who consider themselves religious feel about people who identify as agnostic. If you consider yourself even somewhat religious, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I've honestly found through talking to most of the people I know who claimed to be agnostic that they use "agnostic" almost synonymously with "I don't know" in terms of God's existence.

Is that not what you consider agnostic to mean?

Man...total brain fart. I was totally just mixing up deism with agnosticism.

Lol, never mind what I said.

So when you ask how people who consider themselves religious feel about agnostics, do you mean how we look at them as other people? Or do you mean how we look at their salvation?

I don't have anything against agnostic people. But I will admit that in an effort to make them feel comfortable during a conversation, I might feel awkward, as I carefully choose words and topics that have nothing to do with God and church.

Their choice.

I am a big fan of religion, not saying one is better than another but I think it is important to have a faith.

How you look at them as people, if you question why they feel that way, etc... Anything that comes to mind, really.

I look at them as open-minded and that is refreshing.

Is it possible for an agnostic person to lead a Christian life?

I guess that depends on what you consider a "Christian life."

Follow the teachings in the Bible and live your life accordingly but without faith/belief that there is a God or that Christ is God's son

You can't lead a truly Christian life without Christ. That doesn't mean people can live a good life and treat others well, but it's not a Christian life without Christ.

So how would you view a person who lives up to every teaching and practices daily all that is taught in the Bible except professing belief in Christ and God? They don't deny Christ and God but do not accept them on faith either. I think an agnostic person could be the person I am describing here.

A good person but not a Christian. I have friends that live that very life. I'll admit I love them and pray for them that they accept Jesus.
