And the areas you could add to would take away parking which is already limited, which is a problem. Guess you could add on to the right, on the gym side and shift parking down to the other football practice field. But with the current and potential growth in that area, any addition would only be a temporary fix.

Neither is fiscally responsible with taxpayers $$ when you have space and transportation costs will not be bad. Just welcome to Boone County's world and other growth districts. Not an easy decision and very emotional but you have to do the fiscally responsible thing.
June 2, 20188 yr This has been in the works for a few years now. I was told by a former teacher to be very careful if moving as multiple changes were coming at different times. The first such change was the redistricting of Dixie and Scott a couple years ago. Now it’s the redistricting of Scott and SK. There are people that are 2.5 miles from SK right off 17 that will now have to go to Scott. I have not heard of removing open enrollment. And as far as these affected people now just open enrolling at SK, if SK is truly full, then they won’t be permitted to open enroll. Plus open enrollment isn’t as easy and simple as it’s made out to be as you now have to provide your own transportation to and from school, which many cannot do.

Kenton Co needs to open their eyes and see that everything is developing between piner and independence and that they need another high school in that area in the near future (10 years or less) and get on top of that plan today. They should have bought the big farm that went into foreclosure a few years ago and they could have gotten it for way cheaper than retail price, but they didnt have the personnel in place to look forward.

Kenton Co needs to open their eyes and see that everything is developing between piner and independence and that they need another high school in that area in the near future (10 years or less) and get on top of that plan today. They should have bought the big farm that went into foreclosure a few years ago and they could have gotten it for way cheaper than retail price, but they didnt have the personnel in place to look forward. Were you in their facilty planning meetings? Did you have conversations with the Kentucky Department of Education to get the permission? These things and other things along these lines, must get approval beyond a Board of Education. You can't just ride around and say I want to buy that farm for a school, then cut a check. My guess is they have discussed everything and the decision was made with growth factors considered. Thus probably why they built a 4th middle school and did additions and upgraded facilities at all three high schools. They are putting in a new geothermal system for the campus, which is the constructon you see in front from Pride parkway. They added additional classrooms a few years ago.

Two new wings as well as a new cafeteria have been built over the last several years. There's also still supposed to be an auxiliary gym in the plans. That campus has changed and improved a lot over the last decade.
June 2, 20188 yr The way I heard it, and this was several years ago, Scott gets some of SK's district and Dixie gets ALL of Edgewood. I did also hear that closing the open enrollment option was being considered.
