June 1, 20188 yr On June 4th, at 7pm the Kenton County Board of Education will meet. On the agenda is the redistricting of several Kenton County schools including moving some students from Simon Kenton to Scott.

On the agenda is the redistricting of several Kenton County schools including moving some students from Simon Kenton to Scott. Everything I've heard is that SK is stuffed full and overflowing. Scott has added two sizeable additions, and a new larger cafeteria over the last several years and has space. I've heard that redistricting was on the table. Not sure what areas they'll be pulling over to Scott (assuming it gets passed)

It will move 300 kids to Scott.
June 1, 20188 yr I've heard a lot of folks are not happy about it. Furthermore I've head they're talking about getting rid of open enrollment for Kenton County schools? Anyone familiar with this?
June 1, 20188 yr New line will be McCollum road, Stephens and Marshall. It will move 300 kids to Scott. Assuming 150 of those are boys, Scott would become the biggest 4a school, and right on the bubble of moving back into 5afor football.
June 2, 20188 yr I had heard this was coming about a year or so ago. Also that open enrollment was also going by the wayside.

Really, that's the only way this redistricting will work. I don't see many willingly changing schools, and I think when this has been done in the past, many just open enrolled into their original HS.

It wasn’t much different when they moved parts of Edgewood into Scott’s district. The problem is the extra capacity is at Scott, but there really isn’t much room for growth in Scott’s territory. All the growth is going on in SK’s area, and they’ve outgrown the building.

Agreed, they either need a fourth new high school or to build a new SK that is bigger. Either would be fine, but need to do one or the other ASAP.
