Ryle vs Dixie

Featured Replies

OK , I'll let the secret out . We have a retractable turf field ! Roll it back and theres our old Dirt Turf field ! Mud , pot holes and all !

I had heard this as well. Apparently Coach Spritzky, not to be outdone by Lake Boone County, requested that the turf be retractable so that Dixie Heights could suprise playoff opponents who came expecting to play on turf. When asked about the possible lack of grass on the field when the turf is rolled back, Coach Spritzky replied, "Grass? Grass? We haven't seen grass in years, so it won't be any different this time around." When asked about whether he'd retract the turf if Dixie were to play Ryle in the playoffs, Spritzky replied, "They think they've seen mud out there in Union. Well I have news for them, they ain't seen nothin yet!"

Pardon the ignorance,

Is this game being played at Dixie or Boone?

If so at Dixie, Dixie with the "W" at home 28-21.

If at Boone- Boone with the W 17-14.

 What are you talking about? The game is Dixie vs. Ryle. Boone has nothing to do with it.

Thanks for the info cshs, that sounds about par for the course. I remember when Pat Green(the former, maybe current?, groundskeeper for Triple Crown) was in charge of field maintenance. I can't say that I've ever seen a grass field in much better shape, year in and year out. Sometimes it's not about saving a few pennies......

pat is still in charge of the field.

Sir, Bob Wise is in charge of the football field now.

And I Agree it's not about saving a few pennies

I'm gonna have to take Ryle in this one. Last year Ryle was prime for the beating and Dixie took advantage of it. This year Ryle knows what's at stake and is gonna come out fired up with revenge on their minds from last year. With all the rain it will be a very sloppy low scoring game.

Ryle 21

Dixie 10

Thanks for clearing things up. I was pretty sure that Pat gave that up some time ago. Personally, I'd like to see more of an effort to rebuild/maintain the facilities. I know that I went into the locker room recently, and it seems a little rundown, much like the field. Obviously over time these things happen. I'd just like to see both restored to their previous glory.

Old Raider 22,

There's alot of us that would love to see things go back to the way they were. Not too many years ago, Ryle was the premier field in this area. Now, its just another field. There's talk about building and changes but dont know if things will happen. heck we had a business last year that was going to sponsor one of those nice synthetic fields but some how it got turned down at the board. But you know after tonight, there might not be another option.

GO RAIDERS, BEAT DIXIE

The Boone County Board of Education will not allow anything like that. They turned down Shaun's offer at Boone County, although it didn't cover the entire costs. My understanding, if one gets it, the board thinks all should get it. I can see their point to an extent, but if I can pull in a private donor to fund a new playing surface, I should be able to do that regardless of the other schools in my county.

BTW, is this game at 7:00 or 7:30? I've seen both times listed.

I think you are partly correct. The BOE says (I'm assuming) that IF tax money is going to be used, then it has to be for all schools and not just one.

If Shaun had decided to cover the ENTIRE cost for Boone, I'm confident Boone would have turf right now.

cshs81 you are correct - if tax money is used all of the schools have to get it not just one. A private donor can now fund a field but they must pay for the entire field. The administration has gotten a committee together to look at the athletic facilities and put together a need/want list. The booster organization has been trying to raise money for the past two years to get a new locker/weight room that would be able to be used for all sports.

To clarify - the administration at Ryle and the booster organization at Ryle

Now the question is was that business going to flip the entire bill for the turf for Ryle, or were the only putting up so much money? This would definitely let us all know where the BOE stands on these situations.
