I've never understood how teams continue to recruit players in football that have already committed.

 

I know everyone does it, but man, it's just slimy IMO.

Like you said, everyone does it. Those who don’t won’t keep their jobs for long. It’s slimy, but that’s just how it goes.

I guess my question is why do they do it? It doesn't happen in other sports. Why are football coaches incapable of accepting a kid's decision?

 

It's happened in basketball too. I can remember Joe Hall getting Dicky Beal away from Depaul after he had committed.

It does happen in other sports. But you answered your question with the second to last word in your post. These are kids. Often times these kids commit when they are 16-17 years old. They don’t have a clue what the hell they want.
