Louisville Recruit Jairus Brents

Dont get me wrong the kids deserve a whole lot of the “credit” for getting themselves in this situation but if a permissive attitude at the school made this possible they deserve some of the “credit” as well.

It's not just getting accepted. The NCAA has minimum requirements that must be met, and a whole process that must be followed in order to secure eligibility. The NCAA gives you a four year outline of what you need to do. And what you need to do will vary depending on which level you end up going...D1, D2 and D3 all have different requirements (as does NAIA). While the counselors need to be available to help students out, much of the responsibility to stay on course does fall in the students lap. If you're not sure what you need to do, you need to ask.

I thought all of NCAA required the same things? When my son went through the clearing house it did not differentiate between levels. I know NAIA is different.

I don’t know what all the differences are, and didn’t really dig too deep, as my son was focused only on D2. I know D1 requires a slightly higher GPA (2.3 vs 2.2), and there are some differences in the core courses required. I know from my sons experience this year, you do have to select which Division you are playing when starting the process. Also, D1 and D2 require you to get certified by the clearing house. From what I’ve read, D3 does not. Everything that’s required is listed on the NCAA eligibility site.

NCAA Clearinghouse is a total scam and money maker for a few people.

Bringing this one back up. Who's running the show at Waggener? Now hearing that because of academics the top 2 signees from there won't be eligible for college ball next year.

The kid headed to Duke?

I just read on Twitter that he has officially enrolled at Louisville and is awaiting clearance from the NCAA to play football.

The Courier-Journal noted that he has two court dates for two separate incidents in August but that is NOT preventing him from playing football. He has been cleared already by the university.

I don't like it. But we'll see I guess.
