March 18, 20188 yr It was 64 to 63. But wow what a shot. Make your free throws and it doesn't even matter.
March 18, 20188 yr Horrible defense by Houston at the end. Either way, what a shot by the freshman to win for Michigan.
March 18, 20188 yr This was a game where both teams played like they were almost trying to lose the game. Bad play after bad play in the last minute or so of the game. But it led to a dramatic shot that went in and made for fun watching. I would like to hear people's views on that last play and why to guard the inbounds or possibly another strategy Houston could have used on defense on that last play. My thinking is the big mistake Houston made was letting the guy catch the ball at midcourt. They should have used the extra man to force Michigan to throw the ball to a player coming back towards the player throwing it in and force more dribbles. If Michigan catches that ball inside the three-point arc at the far end of the court they burn time. Then double the first person who touches the ball across half court.

March 19, 20188 yr On that last play and whether you should guard the inbounder or not, I watched another game where the situation was very similar. The team did guard the inbounder and the team that was behind still got the ball across half-court in 2 seconds and got a shot even better than the one that the kid from Michigan took. The team trailing had less time on the clock than Michigan did when they started the play and got a better shot than Michigan with the defensive team guarding the inbounder.

I remember them talking about guarding or not guarding on a last play on one of the sports shows. They said there is no significant difference after a made shot when the inbounder can run the base line. I think they said 10% better to guard if coming from a stationary inbounder. Not sure where they got their stats.
