Coach Justice: "God Put Them On A Platform"

Featured Replies

Nor Evangilical Christianity friendly...hence the thread

Interesting you would say that considering not one person in this thread has said that they have a problem with what he said. Folks are just pointing out that no one is following the separation of the church and state because a majority of the people like what is being said by the state. If Elisha Justice changed his name to Mohammed X and started quoting the Koran you can bet your bottom dollar that separation of the church and state would become a hot button issue once again.

I always find it funny how evangelical Christians like to claim they are the ones people are trying to silence. Y’all almost sound like black

OP....but I digress

Just wondering what happens when they get knocked off that pedestal? :sssh:

Good point...

No offense, but y'know that those who speak like they know what God's intended plan is typically just cleverly rewrite the script accordingly to make it all seem to fit. Spin things a little this way, bend a phase a bit that way, and voila there you have it, a perfectly good explanation of God's new and improved plan, and the humbling explanation after the fact that he knew all along what he was doing even while us lowly humans just needed to see it through before really getting the whole glorious picture. God helps us to win when he sees fit, and perhaps just is using a losing effort as a teaching moment for bigger things to come down the road.

All sarcasm aside, it's still fine with me for folks to find a little peace in their lives with the belief that God is watching over us. I can't say otherwise so who knows, maybe she is.

Everyone would have come to his defense versus saying he shouldn’t have said what he did

You are living in a fantasy land.

Ok, I could not care less about a society that doesn't pray. Give me a coach anytime who will say a prayer for a player's safety on a field of play when injuries could be life threatening. Guess that's why I'm a big fan of private schools. I remember each morning our day started with a scripture reading, a prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. And that was for all eight years I attended a PUBLIC school. We also took turns with the American flag each day. My family never sat down to a meal, whether bountiful or meager, that my nine brothers and sisters and I did not say Grace. Yep, America, what a great country!

I knew this response was coming. Laws are laws.

For sure. But the context would be way different. In Pikeville, I’d bet his players are predominately, maybe all, Christian. As is, I think we are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

"Maybe all" matters

My dear Mother always told me, God always answers prayers. We just don't always get the answer we want. And so it goes.

No pretense, I've not agreed with several SCOTUS rulings but laws are laws. Everyone on here knows I'm old school. Just glad there are several I don't have to obey because of other lawful life decisions I've made. But no politics! Back to thread. America, what a great country.

Anyone who goes to high school sporting events regularly knows that God is mentioned at 90% of these sporting events in a respectful and thoughtful manner.

That was my point, it happens everywhere, even though it is not supposed to.

Direct quoting the bible isnt an issue for me, its a book, like any other book, that someone can quote stuff from.

Praying is not an issue for many but it’s not allowed.

Direct Quoting the Bible and prayer are two different things.

Not to the courts.
