Eagle3
Sportscenter in Owensboro is a GREAT venue for High School basketball. Seats about 5000 people with every view right on the floor. Fans and players love the atmosphere if the place gets crowded. Plenty places to stay in Owensboro, great local restaurants and only 1 hour and 30 min from Louisville and 2 hours and 15 min from Lexington and under 3 hours from Covington. Fans wont be disappointed.

camelman
That's what the original press release said Henry County would be the best place for it. Very central location for the state.

sportsdad
What about hotels? Would have to stay 20-30 minutes away from high school in Shelbyville or Lagrange probably.
camelman
Would have to stay 20-30 minutes away from high school in Shelbyville or Lagrange probably. Not a problem with just 4 teams. Don't think they are expecting even a region-like crowd for the semis and finals.

It's actually sixteen teams. Four sectional winners and four runners-up for the boys, same for the girls.

ApolloFan98
I knew Owensboro was a finalist for this but had not heard a location had been settled on. The Sportscenter updates are nice. Its an old building but brand new floor and video screens have been a solid upgrade. Ive heard they have targeted the seating for upgrades as well. Although it isn't centrally located, Owensboro itself is a great spot to host, as far as hotels and food.

Also can't turn down opportunities for some good BBQ.
