Johnson Central 35 Ashland 7

I agree westsider, Dino has more than a chip and should recognize that this is a real win for JC.

 Dino is the JC poster, westsider is not the one you should be agreeing with. Go back and read the posts.

I didnt want to be the one to say this... but I think now it can be said. Ashland is our football rival.
I agree, especially with the widening gap between Johnson Central's football fortunes and those of our cross creek rivals. I would like to see an Apple Bowl doubleheader each year, with Ashland and another district opponent visiting Johnson Central in alternating years. The Tomcat faithful travel well it would give us a chance to watch a couple of good football games in peace with friends and family from Paintsville.

But it was SO great to beat those Tigers.

 Have you read this thread? If so, you might want to read it again before accusing me of not recognizing the significance of this win. Or to paraphrase your own words, say what you know and not what you think you know (or what you don't know, for that matter).
This coming from a guy who's team sets off fireworks after every touchdown and has a cannon. I think this loss might have ruined this guys life from the way it sounds. Its a game, where people come to not only support their team but also to have fun. You are the one person out of many that is complaining about anything that went on last night. Ashland lost, and the PA man had nothing to do with that. Maybe if these two meet in the play offs the coaches from JC could be nice enough to leave their cheerleaders, fans, PA guy and music guy at home so it isnt unfair to ashland. Id say without the PA guy JC might have only won by 17 or so. Id call KHSAA Bad Cat, lets get an investigation going on this situation. haha. Congrats JC, you proved yourself last night.

Ashland also has a loud horn they like to play as well. Listen people come to the game to have fun and watch the game. If it was your team doing all the music you would love it.

You whin about music and such, how about in warm ups when Ashland decides to introduce themselves to the other team? I don't hear JCHS fans and players talking about that. Why? Because they don't care. It's a game. The one liners are funny as heck! The few Ashland fans who are complaining congradulate yourselves because you are the first fans in the 3 yrs. JCHS has been doing this to complain.

Good luck to Ashland against Boyd. I really look for these two teams to play again this season.

Yes, but it is getting old. We need to be playing more games where our starters can play into the fourth quarter. It's great to be able to play everybody, but key players need the reps in game conditions. You can't give them those quality minutes when you are up 49-0 at the half.

I better make sure I say this right for Macaroni. I heard that Johnson Central was going to try to get Belfry and Ironton next year on the schedule. Id like to see alot of quality opponents on that schedule next year.

Come on JC Alumni 76... Dont post it unless you know it.

I think you responded to the wrong post. MBWC41 was taking BADCAT74 to task for complaining. I think that BADCAT74 is the only Ashland fan who has complained about the PA announcer and music.

Oh yea sorry MBWC41! And one more thing there BADCAT74, it isn't like JCHS did all that for Ashland. JCHS puts on a show like that every time the Eagles play at home. The train horn was something new but it will be there from now on.

Let's get on to something else please because the atmosphere at JCHS for friday nights is 2nd to none from what I have seen.

Those would be great additions to the schedule. You are probably already aware of this fact, but Belfry used to be our biggest rival aside from Paintsville.

Ironically, the reason that the game became such a rivalry was a controversial field goal call back in '75 (I think I know that it was '75, but I could be mistaken). Johnson Central fans at the game swear that a would-be game winning field goal split the uprights and was called no good. For years afterward, Johnson Central coaches played a video of that game before taking the team to Pond Creek.

It will not take much effort to make Belfry a rival once again. There are many people still around, including Johnson County's school superintendent, who played in that 1975 game.

Yes, I was replying to BADCAT, and how he was complaining about the only thing he could about this game. I think anything JC did to make a game in between plays more fun is great and they should continue doing so. The one liners and music had nothing to do with the outcome of the game. If it wouldnt have been the PA guy or the music, im sure a couple of Ashlands fans could have found something else to complain about.

I simply stated the facts JC announcer was in very poor taste and showed no Class! As for the cat on a stick that was handled pretty quick, but IMO wasn't that big of a deal except where he was walking with it. Those same officals stopped the Ashland band from playing in between plays last week, an still let that smartalecky PA guy play on all night during the game even during some plays!! Unacceptable! As I said last night in my post The better team won Grimm is a great little running back! As some of your own have stated on here before, act like you have been winners before, act like you have been out of the holler before! As for sour grapes not even close Im just glad I wasn't setting around anyone who appreiacted any of there behavior. I did ENJOY some of there pregame music and how they brought there team to the field! But IMO that is where it should stop the tacky one liners were inappropriate and tasteless, even though you have not act like you have been in big games before, If this continues into the playoffs however far they may go try to control yourselves? I know now Matney finally found a place to fit in, so glad Ashland didnt consider his application a few years ago! When you go to Maysville next week take a look a long look a quality an Classy team an people in general, what a fine program! I am only speaking my opinion an everyone I talked to last night were saying the same things! I don't know how old the PA guy is but buy the sound of it maybe about 16 or 17 if so then I apoligize I would expect that from a child! I am so glad Ashland dosen't let the kids play with our PA equipment! Grow up JC you have a excellent football team, now bring your fans an PA guy up to that level!

And as for all that garbage, I dont see anything wrong with the JC fans, parents, coaches, players or anyone else involved being over excited about this game. After the game between these two last year its natural for a team who knows they have the better team to be pumped about it. Nothing wrong with that. Act like youve been out of the holler before ? To me that sounds like a 28 point pounding talking.

Yes I am very aware of that game. It was so controversial that JC put down in there programs as a win over Belfry. I can remember the big build up for those games, but JC was always intimidated or didnt play its best game. I remember back in 97' JC went 9-1 in the regular season with its only loss to Belfry. Then in the 2nd round of the playoffs the Eagles where beaten by Bell Co. 14-8. Then the following week that same Bell Co. team that JC played so close at Log Mountain totally destroyed Belfry in the playoffs.

Like you said, it wouldnt take much for this game to become a huge rivalry again considering the superindent as you said played in that game and the current coach is an alum of Belfry.

In the last game that I watched at Belfry, there were several horrible calls, including a couple of pass interference calls. The official who made two of the worst calls was a Paintsville native who calls a lot of games in Johnson County. He probably cost the Golden Eagles the game, but I know that he called the game to the best of his ability. Bad calls are part of the game and I think officials sometimes let an enthusiastic crowd effect their performance. Some rise to the occasion, some buckle under the pressure.

At least the controversial field goal in last season's Ashland game was close by all accounts. Hopefully, Johnson Central's next few games will not be decided by the width of a football and the players will decide the games instead of the officials. Fans seldom remember the names of refs who call great games. They are generally remembered best for their perceived screw-ups. People have to be a little bit crazy to agree to wear stripes and blow a whistle in front of thousands of screaming fans.:D
