Hotels in Owensboro?

Featured Replies

Headed down tomorrow and getting set to book something in the next couple hours.

What’s a good one close to Downtown that won’t break the bank? The riverfront ones seem a bit pricey for my tastes. I guess I don’t mind something on the west edge of town near Parrish.

There isn't much on the west side of town. There is a Wingfield Inn on Parrish that is $80 per travelocity. That used to be a Holiday Inn Express a couple years ago. There is a Sleep Inn at the west end of the bypass / US 60 that is $90. And there is a Ramada Inn about 1/2 mile east of that on US 60 that is $65. It used to be a Holiday Inn several years ago. Seems to have a lot of week long or more guest these days as there are usually contractors and other commercial vehicles in the parking lot.

The downtown hotels are relatively new and nice. Also several of hotels out by what's left of the mall on south Frederica.

Unfortunately I cannot remember the last time I was inside an Owensboro hotel so I can't really comment on which ones are nice or not.

Fairfield and Hampton on Fredrica are ok...the one right off the west parish exit, whatever that is now(old Holiday Inn) is ok and where I usually stay for work

The one (I think sleep in) at the end of the 60 west bypass seems to be ok, the one that used to be the holiday inn (not sure what it is now) was refurbished not too long ago. I'd go with the one on west Parrish at the bypass unless you'd rather try the ones of frederica. How long do you plan to be in the city? I'm sorry that I don't have names for you, I just don't really notice them that much.

I always stay at the Fairfield Inn. Good, decent hotel. Lots of eating options nearby too. It’s close to my client that I visit a few times a year.

Just Friday night, if I can help it. If my work gets done too late, though, I may make it 2 nights.

You'd have more of a food selection on frederica street than you would on west Parrish. Just a thought.

But you are real close to Moonlite if that is on the agenda.

I'd do Old Hickory, they might be better now. But moonlight's buffet is still great! You can't loose with either one, IMO.

I'm going back and forth on that. I've always been told that Moonlight is the tourists' choice, but Old Hickory is the locals' choice. I tend to side with the locals. And I've been to Moonlight before, but not Old Hickory.

I booked the Sleep Inn out on W60, which puts Moonlight somewhat nearby, but my work site is near Old Hickory. I may do up both. I'm looking to get there early enough Friday to get late lunch at one of them, then check in to the hotel.

Thanks for all the suggestions, folks!

My suggestion would be do lunch at moonlite. Their buffet is something. I don't know that old hickory has one. That has been the drawback. I usually go through their drive through and go sit down at moonlite. Be careful on the road and enjoy.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn back in October and enjoyed it. Not cheap though.

IF it is on the agenda? I'm not sure I understand.

Aren't there several new hotels out on 54 just off the 60 bypass? Lots of food options there as well.

The Courtyard by Marriot is the only one on 54 of which I am aware. It wouldn't surprise me to if they build a couple more out that direction but unless I'm having a major brain fart that is the only one.
